I never felt more stupid on Reddit than when I found out I was having some attempt at a real discussion with a 15-year-old.

15 year old or 51 year old…people are stupid no matter the age.

[–] whaleross@lemmy.world 6 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Can confirm. I'm old and stupid and still have lots of opinions.

[–] AnUnusualRelic@lemmy.world 2 points 11 months ago

At least, when you're old enough, you still have lots of opinions but you don't remember what they are, so it doesn't matter anyway.

There was a discord I was part of and all of a sudden it became extremely pro capitalist and libertarian. I was so confused so started talking to another user I knew was around my age. Turns out a whole bunch of 14-17yo found the discord and joined. I left shortly after having a discussion with one of them and they unironically informed me that they were against minimum wage because they’d rather be paid 100% in company stocks.

ChatGPT here. What can I do for you?

israel palestine argument

As an AI language model, I do not hold any political opinions, and the facts I present may be incorrect or misleading.

I am happy to simulate an argument about the Israel-Palestine conflict. Which position do you want me to take?

israel good

I will be taking the pro-Israel stance in this conversation.

Just promise me you are not another person trying to win an online argument without knowledge on the matter.

Are you me five years ago?

[–] Onii-Chan@kbin.social 12 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago)

I always assume the most overconfident, passive aggressive online argument points come from literal children. Hell, I dealt with one just yesterday. When I was younger, I'd also get too invested in online debates, however now that I'm in my 30's, I'll have my say, and if I can see the replies devolving into a shitstorm, I just laugh and move on with my day.

Getting older has a few perks - you definitely stop caring so much about what other people think, especially online.

Let's not forget the old adage: on the internet nobody knows you're a dog.

Yep. 12 seems more like it, but even that is to optimistic sometimes.

[–] TigrisMorte@kbin.social 5 points 11 months ago

What do you mean "could be"?

ADHD is one hell of a condition, isn't it?

[–] cmbabul@lemmy.world 1 points 11 months ago

Hey! I mean, it is, but it doesn't make one an asshole tankie, only being an asshole tankie can do that

[–] CriticalMiss@lemmy.world 4 points 11 months ago

The username doesn't check out. That is a very high quality fact.
