Title might as well read: When the Kremlin says “jump” the Venezuelan puppet government says “how high?”

lolwut

China (the second largest economy on Earth and still growing) calls the shots these days, Russia is just a heavily armed petrostate. Stop jumping at Russian shadows, they're hasbeens.

Dude, when the current Venezuelan “government” lost their last election, who’s military went to Venezuela to anchor their illegitimate ass in place? Yep, the Russians.

People on here commenting about global power in a news community, but apparently forgot the news from just a few short years ago.

When I want to know truthful information about America's enemies I always trust military.com

That was just the first article that came up when I searched. Russian military involvement after the 2019 Venezuelan election is well known and was covered by international news agencies at the time. I'm sorry they don't give you any access to those news sources behind the Great Firewall. Not that your boss would let you read anything like that during your shift at the Chinese troll farm, anyways.

Provide a better source or shut up dork

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Foreign_involvement_in_the_Venezuelan_presidential_crisis#Russian_presence There's literally 100 citations at the bottom of the page, maybe you should learn to use a search engine? There's a whole fucking section titled Russian Presence

Doesn't matter what sources I quote anyways, the Chinese troll farm is gonna troll.

You know it is trivially easy to use VPN in China right? The great firewall is a measure to encourage the development of a domestic tech industry.

[–] AnomalousBit@programming.dev 1 points 1 year ago

Omgggggg never thought I would see someone that isn’t a card toting CCP member try to validate the Great firewall.

Sure buddy, it has nothing to do with keeping the blinders in their population. Hilariously bad take on your side.

Two nuclear weapon-capable Russian planes landed in Venezuela in December 2018 in what Reuters called a "show of support for Maduro's socialist government."[389]

According to the Kremlin, there are about 100 Russian military personnel in Venezuela "to repair equipment and provide technical co-operation".[390] On 23 March 2019, two Russian planes landed in Venezuela carrying 99 troops[391] and 35 tonnes of matériel.[389] Alexey Seredin from the Russian Embassy in Caracas said the two planes were "part of an effort to maintain Maduro's defense apparatus, which includes Sukhoi fighter jets and anti-aircraft systems purchased from Russia."[391]

National Assembly deputy Williams Dávila said the National Assembly would investigate the "penetration of foreign forces in Venezuela."[392]

So, what, they stationed a few troops and some equipment there?

I'd hardly say that's proof that Russia isn't a hasbeen country. That's just a desperate attempt to seem important.

Although lol if you think Guaidó is the legitimate president and not just a US backed puppet.

You just quoted them packing in two nuclear-capable planes... and then say it was a "few troops"? That's a pretty damn big stick to prevent anyone else trying to stop their illegitimate government from being taken down.

I’d hardly say that’s proof that Russia isn’t a hasbeen country. That’s just a desperate attempt to seem important.

This is you moving the goal post in your attempt to gaslight factual events that happened. I never made any statements about Russia's current state.

Although lol if you think Guaidó is the legitimate president and not just a US backed puppet.

Apparently the people of Venezuela thought he was the legitimate president. They voted him the winner of their presidential election. The people of Venezuela knew what was best for them, and it wasn't the status quo petro-king-for-life that is Maduro. Look at their economy since all this played out.

But from your comment history, you're clearly communist and anti-democracy. Why would you care what the people voted. You just want to pin everything that doesn't fit your narrative on to the US. What a dull, lazy take on the world.

Enjoy making your knock-off Android phones at Huawei for $3 an hour, no overtime, 70 hours a week. Some bad ass communism though! I hope you get a couple of points of social credit from the CCP for your efforts here today! Keep sticking it to those western capitalists with their 40 hour work weeks!

I make car parts in Iowa, fuck off. 😉

I guess there's one thing Russia and America still agree on - Russia is a real country and not a gas station with nukes!

[–] taanegl@beehaw.org 1 points 1 year ago

Always hasbeen. Word to the last Tzar.

[–] OurToothbrush@lemmy.ml 4 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Kind of racist to assume the whitest country is in control of BRICS.

[–] AnomalousBit@programming.dev 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I said nothing about BRICS, but great job projecting racism where it doesn’t exist.

[–] OurToothbrush@lemmy.ml 1 points 1 year ago

Title might as well read: When the Kremlin says “jump” the Venezuelan puppet government says “how high?”

The title says

Venezuela has formally proposed to join the BRICS group, says Maduro

And for the record, if Venezuela was a Russian puppet it wouldn't be supplying europe with oil rn.

[–] Erikatharsis@kbin.social 11 points 1 year ago

But Venezuela, you need to understand that there is no good place to put the V in the acronym, wait for some other countries to join first

[–] CookieJarObserver@sh.itjust.works 4 points 1 year ago (1 children)

BRICKS. thats what they got thrown at their heads as children.

[–] Krause@lemmygrad.ml 1 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

BRICKS: it's what you western dogs are shitting at the thought of not being able to sanction "regimes" you don't like
