If I'd realised this was a Hakim video I would have watched and responded sooner. Given the topic at hand I wasn't sure what to expect so waited for a time when I could watch something that I might not be able to digest without my mind and emotions being in the right place.
But Hakim's work is so good and strikes such a perfect tone that even the darkest topics tend to be explored in a format that I find approachable even when I'm feeling particularly sensitive.
This is a long way to suggest that maybe putting the creator / channel name in the post titles would be a useful practice. Not intended as a criticism at all though, nor specifically directed at you, OP. Thank you very much for posting this, it was a really good and thorough video.
I especially appreciated the unexpected detour comparing Palestine and the parallels in policing of the respective subjugated communities. I think it's a really important point to make at a time when a lot of people are ready to show up and are able to see clearly, the injustice of the situation for Palestinians.
I appreciate Hakim's level approach in his videos and so the subtext isn't perhaps as loud as it should be- support for BLM should stay in the forefront of our awareness and the treatment of subjugated communities in our various colonial states is an active problem that deserves intense scrutiny and protest action. Also service to these communities should always be a priority for socialist orgs as an accessible front for support. Not to mention the valuable coalition building opportunities that this state of affairs presents.
Also how the fuck does he do it. Doctoring in a hospital by day, TOP tier propagandist by night. An incredible man, really.
