IMO it totally holds up, except as an edgy piece of media from the aughts, prepare for R and F slurs, Asian characters with phonetically represented accent and L R transliteration, and some of the ambient transphobia of the era (surprisingly little of that, considering how ubiquitous that kind of joke was, but it's there.) And of course depression and suicidal ideation comes up often.
I think anyone who followed it at the time will expect that stuff, but I do want people who are new to it to have a content warning going in!
