!nostupidquestions is a community dedicated to being helpful and answering each others' questions on various topics.

The rules for posting and commenting, besides the rules defined here for lemmy.world, are as follows:

Rules (interactive)

Rule 1- All posts must be legitimate questions. All post titles must include a question.

All posts must be legitimate questions, and all post titles must include a question. Questions that are joke or trolling questions, memes, song lyrics as title, etc. are not allowed here. See Rule 6 for all exceptions.

Rule 2- Your question subject cannot be illegal or NSFW material.

Your question subject cannot be illegal or NSFW material. You will be warned first, banned second.

Rule 3- Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here.

Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here. Breaking this rule will not get you or your post removed, but it will put you at risk, and possibly in danger.

Rule 4- No self promotion or upvote-farming of any kind.

That's it.

Rule 5- No baiting or sealioning or promoting an agenda.

Questions which, instead of being of an innocuous nature, are specifically intended (based on reports and in the opinion of our crack moderation team) to bait users into ideological wars on charged political topics will be removed and the authors warned - or banned - depending on severity.

Rule 6- Regarding META posts and joke questions.

Provided it is about the community itself, you may post non-question posts using the [META] tag on your post title.

On fridays, you are allowed to post meme and troll questions, on the condition that it's in text format only, and conforms with our other rules. These posts MUST include the [NSQ Friday] tag in their title.

If you post a serious question on friday and are looking only for legitimate answers, then please include the [Serious] tag on your post. Irrelevant replies will then be removed by moderators.

Rule 7- You can't intentionally annoy, mock, or harass other members.

If you intentionally annoy, mock, harass, or discriminate against any individual member, you will be removed.

Likewise, if you are a member, sympathiser or a resemblant of a movement that is known to largely hate, mock, discriminate against, and/or want to take lives of a group of people, and you were provably vocal about your hate, then you will be banned on sight.

Rule 8- All comments should try to stay relevant to their parent content.

Rule 9- Reposts from other platforms are not allowed.

Let everyone have their own content.

Rule 10- Majority of bots aren't allowed to participate here.

Anything that doesn't involve bots reporting from Reddit..my block list is also growing daily. Lots of blocked communities, and a bunch of specific users.

[–] pikasaurX4@lemm.ee 15 points 1 year ago (2 children)

I think there is a setting on your account to hide bot posts. I was initially blocking all the bots until I found that setting and now I don’t see them at all

[–] AFKBRBChocolate@lemmy.world 8 points 1 year ago (1 children)

There is, but I actually like some bots, like the one that posts alternate YouTube links. The only kind I don't like are the ones that just grab reams of Reddit content.

[–] FlihpFlorp@lemm.ee 2 points 1 year ago

It made me turn off the ability to see bot account on my profile

If I wanted to go back to Reddit I would be on Reddit

[–] slazer2au@lemmy.world 7 points 1 year ago (1 children)

That assumes the person running the bot account also ticked the this account is a bot checkmark.

[–] pikasaurX4@lemm.ee 6 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

True. It also won’t help against malicious spam bots, but it helped me get rid of all the repost/rehost bots I was seeing when I first joined

Shameless plugs for two I set up and mod (sort of):

Also, I'm not a mod, but I'm hoping we can get PhotoshopBattles (https://lemmy.world/c/photoshopbattles) working without bots soon - at the moment there's a bit cross posting from the R place but I've blocked it, so only see real submissions.

Help! should I read Dune or Children of Time first

[–] Izzy@lemmy.world 5 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I find Dune to be like 85% fantasy and 15% science fiction so being more of a science fiction fan I have to go with Children of Time.

[–] mojo@lemm.ee 1 points 1 year ago

To me, I mostly like Science Fiction because they can explore philosophical or complicated ideas a lot more then other genres

[–] shaelz@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Children of Time sucked... Honestly after reading seveneves or three body problem trilogy it's children's fiction. Dune will always be an incredible classic, children of Time will certainly be forgotten soon.

[–] mojo@lemm.ee 1 points 1 year ago

Ooh three body problem I forgot about. Thanks for the reminder, adding to my to buy list next time I raid Barnes and noble

ZXSpectrum

People there are so happy when they see a game that reminds them of their past. It's very heartwarming to see someone commenting "man, I remember this game, played it when I was young and happier".

I’m dying for a quake 5. A throw back to the quake 1 universe is so needed. My childhood was all quake 1 all day. Need multiplayer a proper death match and capture the flag and clan arena!

!tabletopminis@lemmy.world

It's a wholesome community of people painting tiny figures to play with or look at. Also so many great painters already but also welcoming go newcomers.

I like gunpla so I like this community too. It's fun looking what people make within their hobbies.

Hi there! Looks like you linked to a Lemmy community using a URL instead of its name, which doesn't work well for people on different instances. Try fixing it like this: !internetfuneral@lemmy.world

!AlternativeNation@lemmy.world

Because I'm old and I like alternative music.

[–] Backsideslappy@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

Yeah this is one of the few communities I've joined where the content is consistently on point. Lots of good tunes being posted.

[–] seitanic@lemmy.sdf.org 1 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Could you define "alternative" for me?

[–] AcornCarnage@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

Haha. In this context? Generally meaning 80s college radio and 90s rock music. You know. Cool music.

[–] passably9@lemmy.world 5 points 1 year ago

Nothing here is as good to be considered favorite by me. It will take time
