I see my favourite artists on there but the selection seems more limited and I can only stream the songs of the albums I like. They also have lossless audio.

Does Qobuz pay the artists more?

I suppose I will switch over to create the increased demand and write letters to the artists to ask for more albums to be made available on the platform.

I'm not sure about the pay split, but I've been buying from Qobuz for a while now and generally like the service. Do note that you need to download your purchases ASAP. Through no fault of Qobuz, some of my older purchases are no longer available for download due to publishers pulling it.

Can you download your purchases before this happens or is there some DRM or something?

Yes, you can download them DRM free, so as long as you download them when you buy them there is no real issue

That's pretty good, I'll look into it. I doubt I'll ever be able to really replace bandcamp but you never know.

You get FLACs from Qobuz iirc

[–] ReluctantZen@feddit.nl 2 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

I believe WAVs, MP3s and a couple others too

According to their website the lowest quality you get is a lossless CD format, so that's a 16-bit 44.1 kHz FLAC

Yeah, but you can download those as MP3s as well should you want that.
