News and Discussions about Reddit

Welcome to !reddit. This is a community for all news and discussions about Reddit.

The rules for posting and commenting, besides the rules defined here for lemmy.world, are as follows:

Rules

Rule 1- No brigading.

**You may not encourage brigading any communities or subreddits in any way. **

YSKs are about self-improvement on how to do things.

Rule 2- No illegal or NSFW or gore content.

**No illegal or NSFW or gore content. **

Rule 3- Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here.

Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here. Breaking this rule will not get you or your post removed, but it will put you at risk, and possibly in danger.

Rule 4- No self promotion or upvote-farming of any kind.

That's it.

Rule 5- No baiting or sealioning or promoting an agenda.

Posts and comments which, instead of being of an innocuous nature, are specifically intended (based on reports and in the opinion of our crack moderation team) to bait users into ideological wars on charged political topics will be removed and the authors warned - or banned - depending on severity.

Rule 6- Regarding META posts.

Provided it is about the community itself, you may post non-Reddit posts using the [META] tag on your post title.

Rule 7- You can't harass or disturb other members.

If you vocally harass or discriminate against any individual member, you will be removed.

Likewise, if you are a member, sympathiser or a resemblant of a movement that is known to largely hate, mock, discriminate against, and/or want to take lives of a group of people, and you were provably vocal about your hate, then you will be banned on sight.

Rule 8- All comments should try to stay relevant to their parent content.

Rule 9- Reposts from other platforms are not allowed.

Let everyone have their own content.

:::spoiler Rule 10- Majority of bots aren't allowed to participate here.

MODERATORS

I just searched "nazi salute" on r/conservative... and its just such insane denialism...

Like, what if musk just do the "Heil H**ler" too?

I wonder what excuses they'll make then?

🤔

Fake News?

Deepfake?

🤣

r/conservative should be renamed to r/neonazi

They’d do the same. Fucking worthless traitor cunts.

I don't know about the conservatives but the press and 'centrists' will probably go "Hmmm maybe it's just autism. Surely he didn't really mean it. No, can't be. I can't think of any past behaviour of his that would make this seem intentional. Autistic people do nazi salutes and say heil hitler all the time."

You can say "hitler" here, the advertisers won't murder you.

Clueless mods are all over lemmy.

There was one user whose username was "DragonFucker" or something, and another user addressed them with their username, the comment was removed and they got banned... 🙄

Don't want this to get taken out of context and seem like I'm actually saying the HH phrase, so using asterisks is to indicate I'm not actually trying to saying the phrase.

They got unbanned and the comments got restored IIRC

"He could mean anyone named Hitler, there's tons of em!"

[–] Coreidan@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago

They will say he actually said “smell didler” while waving to the crowd.

If you want to do a pointless hypothetical, at least make it ethically interesting.

What if Harris did the Natzi salute while shouting "Heil Hitler!" before the election? No change in policy or anything else.

Would you rather vote for Harris doing a Natzi salute or Trump doing Trump things? Words or actions? Or would you give up and not vote at that point?

[–] haui_lemmy@lemmy.giftedmc.com 2 points 1 week ago (2 children)

JAQing off much?

Nobody cares about the dems or harris or anything at this point. The fascists are the fascists, trump or not.

JAQing off much?

As opposed to the post I am commenting on? :D

[–] haui_lemmy@lemmy.giftedmc.com 1 points 1 week ago (1 children)

As depicted very well in this article:

https://rationalwiki.org/wiki/Just_asking_questions

You‘re redirecting the conversation towards the dems instead of answering OPs question or engaging in any meaningful conversation.

So yes, in strong opposition to the article you are commenting on.

Just asking questions (also known as JAQing off, or as emojis: "🤔🤔🤔"[1]) is a way of attempting to make wild accusations acceptable (and hopefully not legally actionable) by framing them as questions rather than statements. It shifts the burden of proof to one's opponent; rather than laboriously having to prove that all politicians are reptoid scum, one can pull out one single odd piece of evidence and force the opponent to explain why the evidence is wrong.

Which one fits this definition better? The original post that takes one single odd piece of evidence in the form of Musks controversial "Nazi salute" and asks questions about whether r/conservatives would support overt Nazism and even abandons the facade and answers its own questions by saying we should rename the subreddit?

Or my comment that is very clearly hypothetical and primarily intended to make fun of the original post (since I did not know the term "JAQing off" and I find it more fun to create a comment people either have to think about or hypocritically criticize for the thing they are doing themselves, instead of being a nerd and linking to obscure wikis about argumentation).

You are projecting my dude 🤣

Yours, obviously. Conservatism is the political „right“ wing. Fascists are the „extreme right wing“.

Asking if a very close relative to fascism is going to do mental gymnastics to somehow normalize even more fascism is neither new nor is it controversial. Thats how it went for more than a hundred years.

Then trying to steer the discussion towards the US democrats (still right wing from an objective position) is not only unproductive, it is obvious trolling.

What I dont understand is that your other posts dont seem to fit a classic fascist troll so I suppose its either a misunderstanding, a pedantic trigger or the account was hacked.

Asking if a very close relative to fascism is going to do mental gymnastics to somehow normalize even more fascism is neither new nor is it controversial.

I genuinely wonder what kind of echo chamber you would have to live in to think saying "normal right wing ideology is very close relative to fascism" is not controversial.

Then trying to steer the discussion towards the US democrats (still right wing from an objective position) is not only unproductive, it is obvious trolling.

I am not trying to steer the discussion. It is Satire. Showing people how stupid the argument is by applying the exact same logic the post uses to their own favourite party to make them think of the counterarguments on their own.

[–] haui_lemmy@lemmy.giftedmc.com 0 points 1 week ago (1 children)

So it is untrue that a large percentage of the conservative parties worldwide are rightwing extremists? It is not true that fascism by definition shares large parts of its ideas with conservative parties? It is for example not true that a large portion of the german fascist party consists of former right wing party members?

I think we both know where this ends my friend. Your mental gymnastics are insufficient and I‘m no longer willing to provide a platform to your fascist propaganda.

We are more.
