First-wave industrial and its general experimental descendants. Throbbing Gristle, Coil, Z'EV, SPK, but also death industrial, power electronics, dark ambient, etc.

Just joined Lemmy, and I'm looking for communities of people with similar interests. Cheers!

Yes! I love Test Dept., SPK etc. Lately I've been listening a lot to Pharmakon and Uboa, who I feel are doing a great job of carrying on that style.

I'll toss Einstürzende Neubauten and Throbbing Gristle into a set every once in a while when the mood fits. Though I probably trend more towards Frank Tovey and similar artists. As they're a little more musical than just atmospheric. Hell coitus interruptuptus is practically a low fi-minimal disco break. Though Fad Gadget had plenty nightmarish electronic screeching as well.

I'm a huge fan of Einstürzende Neubauten, and others of metallic persuasion like Test Dept. Really hope to see Neabauten perform someday.

For anyone that isn't familiar. Trash Theory on YouTube has a great set of video essays all music related. Including one on Gristle and Neubauten as well as some of the other first wave electronic industrial Acts. Even if you are familiar it's still a good watch. Can't recommend the channel enough.

I've seen this and I really enjoyed it. A lot of incredible artists mentioned and explored, and it gets a lot of its history and facts right.

That all sounds cool. Can’t say I’ve heard any of that but if you want to post a sample I’d give it a listen!

Here's the album Leichenshrei by SPK. Very important album in the industrial canon, stuff made of nightmares.

I’ll have to give that a listen to. The little big of scrubbing I just did reminds me of one of my favorites - Nightmare Machine by Converter.
