Original Title: TIL that Iceland's largest tree is a 75-year-old Sitka spruce, planted in 1949 in the forest of Kirkjubæjarklaustur. Measuring 80+ feet in 2013, the tree portrays the importance of forestry and reclaiming land for natural usage in the region's thin, volcanic soils, which are subject to erosion.
