Enough Musk Spam

10 users here now

For those that have had enough of the Elon Musk worship online.

No flaming, baiting, etc. This community is intended for those opposed to the influx of Elon Musk-related advertising online. Coming here to defend Musk or his companies will not get you banned, but it likely will result in downvotes. Please use the reporting feature if you see a rule violation.

Opinions from all sides of the political spectrum are welcome here. However, we kindly ask that off-topic political discussion be kept to a minimum, so as to focus on the goal of this sub. This community is minimally moderated, so discussion and the power of upvotes/downvotes are allowed, provided lemmy.world rules are not broken.

Post links to instances of obvious Elon Musk fanboy brigading in default subreddits, lemmy/kbin communities/instances, astroturfing from Tesla/SpaceX/etc., or any articles critical of Musk, his ideas, unrealistic promises and timelines, or the working conditions at his companies.

Tesla-specific discussion can be posted here as well as our sister community /c/RealTesla.

Of course, it was automatically turned on

Let’s fix this

Ah, much better. My job of being added to the stats of “f*ck this” is complete.

Surprised he didn't enable calls from verified users by default.

I am too, except that would probably get him sued by half of Twitter if vulnerable users could suddenly be swamped by calls from verified buttholes. He still has time to make more bad decisions though.

No reason to have the app or an account in the first place.

Unless you’re interested in content that isn’t on Lemmy (which, let’s face it, is most content), or unless you’re interested in following people not on Mastodon (which, let’s face it, is most people), which includes my congressional representatives, Nobel prize winners, recognized experts in their fields, etc etc etc.

If you’re not using it that’s totally fine and I respect it, but to say there’s no reason is just ignorant.

You're the one bitching and outraged by it. I prefer to not have my location tracked, or my daily activities exposed to the kinds of people investing in Twitter. You signed up for this, you get what you deserve at this point.

The funny part about this is that I came here to Lemmy, where I encounter more negative, ignorant nonsense in my everyday use than I ever have on Twitter. Some of you need to get over yourselves.

Not really outraged about it, just informing the community that on the same day that Musk was exposed as having scrubbed the Maine shooter’s account, he also conveniently rolled out this new feature that I turned off in a few seconds and have moved on from. Also pointing out that it’s poorly thought out, not really enraged. Twitter isn’t an issue for me because I’ve managed my account in such a way that I’m wholly unaffected by all the things you’re mad about. I’m not getting tracked by anything outside of Twitter because I mostly use it in Firefox containers with uBlock and Twitter account autoblockers. You, in fact, are the one bitching and ranting now. And you can continue being this mad because it’s entirely pointless and amusing for me. Meanwhile, we’re both currently using a platform whose software was written by people with politics just as objectionable as what’s on Twitter. You can pat yourself on the back for dubious superiority, but that’s all you’re doing.

Also, poorly thought out, because if you want it on, you can’t choose to allow only audio calls or only video calls. It’s both or neither. So hearing impaired individuals cannot block audio-only calls if they always want video to help with lipreading etc, and people who might use audio calls but would block video calls for anonymity can’t do that either.
