So if the Reject Shop was like 10 times bigger; that’s what Panda Mart is?

Anyone know exactly what's happening on the Hurstbridge/Mernda line? After the day I've had (boss informed us we're going back to office full-time for reasons of "productivity"), last thing I need is to spend ten bucks for a borked train line
Whilst I'd prefer to stay inside in air conditioned comfort I am going to take a load of stuff down to the op shop. Hopefully I can fit everything in one trip.
Edit: Done. It all fit in the car & has been dropped off. There was an annoying lady in a van blocking the drive through for a ridiculous amount of time and causing carpark gridlock and chaos everywhere, but otherwise it was not too traumatic. I even got rid of the blind that I sold on marketplace to four different people who never actually showed up.
I just attempted pandamart. Looked at the people lined up to get in and kept driving.
So lent-ish, I'm giving up browsing reddit for the rest of the month. There's plenty of more useful things I could do with my spare time than keep up to date with the high quality doom scrolling that's available these days. If I need to do some research it's fine but no wandering about in the endless void of it. Deleted my links on PC/phone, the digital equivalent of throwing my bong out.
So apparently my iron is low so I need to get on the supplements and also start eating a bit more medicinal red meat. I'm not a vegetarian any more but left to my own devices i can go a long time without (much) meat. So I have some stewing steak defrosting but I can't decide between a chilli con carne or an old fashioned stew (both instant pot so it doesn't heat up the place too much).....leaning towards the chilli......
Anyone got any good recipes?
Kangaroo meatballs from (shudder!) colesworth. Very high in digestible iron. Don't fry them! Brown lightly and stew with vegies. If you can get hold of horsemeat, that's very high in iron too.
Also, once the weather gets a bit wetter/colder, look around for stinging nettles. The young tops are one of the highest sources of vegetable based iron. Wear rubber gloves to harvest, wash well and steam/microwave lightly until just wilted (which destroys the sting), chop, drain and use in any cooked spinach recipie. One of my fab faves as I love the nutty flavour. The iron content is a bonus. Easily grown in damp shade too.
Great advice thanks
Please consider braised steak and onions. Beef, onions and beef stock. Thicken it up at the end of cooking. Garlic, herbs optional. Paired it with mashed potato and steamed veg.
Some peeps put sauce in there. I do not.
Day/cat rambles
Ugh. I really don’t feel good. It’s been a high pain day. The most I managed today was to sort out Melbcat’s needs, run the mini dishwasher once, and give the wilting plants some water.
I’m running out of the little fancy tins and sachets that were meant to entice catling and forgot to get more so just opened one of the bigger generic tins… and she’s happily been eating that again! Even with meds mixed in. Maybe the strong fishiness of the dark tuna mince covers it up. Or maybe she’s just a faddy eater.
Donation rambles
There is so much crap in my house that isn’t useful for me…
I think I’m going to donate this can of dry shampoo. I bought it for bad fatigue days but the scent has changed drastically from years ago and is now overpowering. I already had to be careful using aerosols but the perfume is just too much. It’s clean, new, only used a couple of sprays so maybe someone else might like it.
Same with this soap I used to use. It’s feeling a lot harsher on my skin and I now prefer a different brand so maybe the unopened boxes can go to the community pantry. The used bar is next in line for hand soap duty and the opened but untouched bar can be wrapped in leftover Xmas paper and labeled with the brand.
The crop bras I dislike too. The sub-variety of Ensure drinks that contain an aggravating ingredient. A few other toiletries that aren’t getting used.
All of these would work just fine for someone else.
These jeans get one more wash and if they still smell they are gone.
It’s a massive pain in the butt that I had to unravel the string bag… it took me a month and was almost done… but I might start again to finish the yarn. Hopefully I can get the hang of holding the yarn properly and learn how to work with that really fast rhythm.
After about 15 years of service, my washing machine died last week. I am now the owner of a brand new washer! Old machine was a top loader and new one is a front loader, so there may be some trial and error to figure out my preferred wash cycles. Mount Washmore here I come. Good weather for drying too.
I've been reading "How to Make Yourself Miserable, a Vital Training Manual" and I am pleased to report I do hardly anything in that book.
As a positive self affirming confidence boosting exercise I'm going to tick all the things listed I don't do. Which is like 95%. 🙂 I can work on the others.
