I don't love the dialogue, it's so expository. I remember the original feeling a lot more 'real'. The characters talked naturally and you figured out details over time.
The cop's conversation in the bar spelling out which vigilantes are currently active. Foggy's line as Matt left the bar. The first conversation between Fisk and Vanessa was just painful
You left the bed I sat beside for months while you recovered. And for what? And now you walk in here and end a meeting of the five families by simply standing in the doorway
A lot of recent marvel content treats the audience like we're stupid, and it takes me out of it while watching
Edit:
The dialogue was alright for the rest of the episode, and the plot looks promising
Just, holy shit. I'm back on board. I didn't know how well they would pull it off but they let the crew and cast breath and work and it's just as fucking good as the original show.
Only qualms, I've noticed a little more CGI than the original, and I've noticed a few of those "one shot" scenes have pretty obvious cuts this time.
The CGI in the first 15 minutes was rough, but we know that was due to reshoots. The rest of the episode was awesome.
Benefit of watching this on a small screen like I did is you dont notice rough details as much lol
Quite well done first episode, not too rushed and still setting up a status quo while re-introducing the characters. So from a production pov I can't say anything negative about it. I especially like the playing with aspect ratios.
The story they chose to go with will certainly anger some fans. They wanted to go into a different direction than the previous show and they made that clear. Will people in the end jump on board with that new story? I'm not sure
So the writers had a different tone in mind originally, then got told the fans want the old cast back and want it to be darker.
Felt like the writers said “Fuck you. You want Foggy and Karen? You want it darker? Here you go. We kill Foggy and ship Karen 3000 miles off camera. How do you like that?” It was downright spiteful.
It did work to blend the old show into this one. The first chunk of the show followed the original tone, and then he was "reborn" with the theme song.
I enjoyed the feeling near the end
Karen is in 15 or sixteen episodes according to IMDb
That intro for Daredevil coming in swinging and landing on the fire escape was really rough, you can tell it was a reshoot. Outside of that I loved this first episode.
Wow. Holy shit. Then the intro played.
The rest of the episode was a great setup to the plot for the season, they wasted no time.
Also I refuse to believe Foggy is dead. I don't care how clear they made it.
If they brought Elektra back, they can bring Foggy back.
Nooo Foggy that’s too soon! Did we really only get a few minutes with him?!
