Why don’t teams just stick to 1 or 2 encoding method and delete the old files ?

Every movie has all these versions of

  • x264, x265, AV1 . AVC ….
  • WEB-DL, BDRip ,BluRay Remux ….

Can’t the teams like stick with the top 2 best results and delete the rest ? Like at the range of 1-6 gb at least ?

because Remux +30 gb files are not that varied as far as I have seen

Because I see a lot of videos that are outdated (Web-DL) and it comes with bigger sizes than the better ones (BDRip - x265) and they’re actually alive and have a lot of seeders too ! I think thats a big data usage loss when you have a batter version with less size don’t you think
