Welcome to the Unpopular Opinion community!

How voting works:

Vote the opposite of the norm.

If you agree that the opinion is unpopular give it an arrow up. If it's something that's widely accepted, give it an arrow down.

Guidelines:

Tag your post, if possible (not required)

  • If your post is a "General" unpopular opinion, start the subject with [GENERAL].
  • If it is a Lemmy-specific unpopular opinion, start it with [LEMMY].

Rules:

1. NO POLITICS

Politics is everywhere. Let's make this about [general] and [lemmy] - specific topics, and keep politics out of it.

2. Be civil.

Disagreements happen, but that doesn’t provide the right to personally attack others. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Please also refrain from gatekeeping others' opinions.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Shitposts and memes are allowed but...

Only until they prove to be a problem. They can and will be removed at moderator discretion.

5. No trolling.

This shouldn't need an explanation. If your post or comment is made just to get a rise with no real value, it will be removed. You do this too often, you will get a vacation to touch grass, away from this community for 1 or more days. Repeat offenses will result in a perma-ban.

Instance-wide rules always apply. https://legal.lemmy.world/tos/

My preference is pineapple, ham, and jalapeños. You get that spicy-salty-sweet-greasy-carb thing going, and it is AWESOME. I call it a Tex-waiian pizza.

[–] Cheems@lemmy.world 7 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Swap ham for bacon and I'm in

[–] frannyman@lemmy.world 5 points 1 year ago

This is exactly my favorite custom pizza topping combo

Didn't it turn out that in fact pineapple on pizza was the majority supported preference, numerically, when there was a huge poll?

Or am I just completely misremembering this.

Especially with chicken and a sweet honey, chilli drizzle all over it.

No idea what that is. Unless that’s what you call that kind of pizza wherever you live?

Al pastor is a type of pork that is marinated in pinapple and cooked on a vertical spit like gyro.

[–] YurkshireLad@lemmy.ca 2 points 1 year ago

Cool, I had no idea!

Pineapple alone? Take it easy, there, Satan.

But pineapple with a sweet/savoury meat like ham or bacon to contrast the flavour? Absolute heaven.

[–] Brokensilence410@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Pineapple with jalepeno peppers is the best, imo

[–] handbanana@lemm.ee 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

For a decade I've been eating pineapple with pepperoni and jalapeño. Highly recommend you try this once!

[–] BROMETHIUS@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

I almost always choose pineapple, jalapeños, and some meat. Usually chicken, steak, or pepperoni.

[–] Followupquestion@lemmy.world 5 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Pineapple and olive is the best two topping pizza. Throw on some chili flakes if you must but the sweet and salty? Perfection

[–] pooberbee@lemmy.ml 1 points 1 year ago (2 children)

I've actually wanted to try this, but

  1. the rubber o-rings that many pizza places use for olives are gross
  2. my wife dislikes olives

I wonder if anchovies would be good for this.

[–] Followupquestion@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

Slice your own Kalamata or green olives in brine, the flavor improvement is noticeable. Anchovies might be good for the same, but if you’re going for a protein, why not go true Hawaiian style (not from Hawaii I’m pretty certain) and use Canadian bacon?

[–] RBWells@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I hate pineapple and tomato sauce together so no to piña pizza but anchovies, kalamata olives, and crushed red pepper is delicious. Onion too if you are looking to add the sweet element, but it doesn't need it.

I do like other versions of cooked pineapple (pineapple and shrimp skewers marinated in chili paste are transcendently delicious, and pineapple upside down cake is good) but not with tomato sauce and cheese NO.

[–] pooberbee@lemmy.ml 1 points 1 year ago

Try a buffalo chicken pizza with pineapple, maybe. Spicy and sweet, no tomato sauce.

[–] Futurama@lemmy.world 5 points 1 year ago

I wouldn't go as far as to agree it's the best, but it is delicious.

[–] grasshopper_mouse@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

I think since this is Lemmy, we should embrace and accept pineapple on pizza, as opposed to Reddit, where it was hated

Best? No. The best is durian pizza.

Pineapple is pretty spiffy though.

[–] pooberbee@lemmy.ml 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I want to try this! I've only had durian cold and in desserts. It's hard to get, here.

[–] ttmrichter@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

It's a seasonal thing at Pizza Hut here. About the only Pizza Hut pizza I actively enjoy.

[–] JigglySackles@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

I love Italian sausage and pineapple. Outstanding combination. I can't really enjoy typical Hawaiian though. I like pineapple and I like Canadian bacon, but not together

[–] KeraKali@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

What if you don't even like pineapple?

[–] RoseRose56@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

Admin and mods ban this user, this is a a blasphemy /Joke

[–] Nusm@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago
[–] Protoknuckles@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

I'm a fan of pepperoni pineapple. I call it an improved Hawaiian.

Instead of arguing against, here's an arguments map (for and) against: Does pineapple belong on pizza?, Kialo

[–] xc2215x@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

I don't hate as much as many do but not the best ever.

[–] Tramol@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

I can't do hot pineapple personally

[–] mctit@lemmy.world 0 points 1 year ago

My god, could the world just stop arguing this fucking opinion at some point?
