The formerly dead !corvids@sopuli.xyz is currently being used to push out the !crows@lemmy.ml community. Basically all added content is just reposts of content that's being posted in the ml community. To me this seems very much like harassment.

Are such hostile communities welcome on sopuli?

Who, exactly is being harassed?

Are you really trying to ban reposts on different instances?

Are you a jealous moderator of the ML community or why do you even care?

[–] bonjour@feddit.org -2 points 5 days ago (1 children)

I am just a rando and i care because i liked the crows community. I don't think the corvid community is anything to be jaleous about. Something to be ashamed about, that'd be more like it.

But I recognise you all seem to think everything's just fine and my perception must be warped.

[–] deegeese@sopuli.xyz 5 points 5 days ago (2 children)

I like crows. Why should I care that there are more communities about them?

To me it looks like your goal is to stir up drama. You said there was harassment, of who? You say the new corvid forum is something to be ashamed of, why?

[–] bonjour@feddit.org -2 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Just saw the guy admitting that all his reposting is just being a boycotting effort. https://sopuli.xyz/post/24543846?scrollToComments=true

So this IS about stirring drama after you lost a community vote to move the Corvid community.

Sounds to me like you’re the one engaging in harassment.

[–] bonjour@feddit.org -2 points 4 days ago

I have lost no community vote, nobody has lost a community vote, there was no community vote.

I don't want to anger you any more, and will finally move along for real - third time's a charm 😆

I would not mind more than one community about crows. It's just that the sopuli one is currently not a crows community, but a fediverse politics community.

The actual crows community is the crows one, their mod was carrying it for all this time, posted mostly original content and it picked up a few other posters along the way. Making a niche community work on lemmy is tough, tough to stay motivated and i'm thankful for people like him to stay on it. The sopuli one was sadly dead since its existence.

About two weeks ago now the consolidation mafia 😆 started reposting the content from crows, so mostly the OC of its mod, into the corvids comm. Then they opened a topic in a fediverse politics group, @ing the handful of active users to ask them to move over to corvids. Happy to see that none of them seems to have it, only the politics people love the idea of course. Lying through their teeth claiming the corvid community was just as active as the crows one. @ing the admin about ten times to drag him into this politics group and wondering how he is not replying to this brazen attempt to kidnap the small community that he has been building over the last two years. They also have no history caring much about crows, it is solely an attempt at a power move.

So yeah, i feel like they are harassing the mod of crows community and i despise their attempt to hurt a fine small niche community. That's it. I understand you all think there is nothing to see here, so i will move along.

I love this greek tragedy you're been writing. It's absolutely brilliant.

[–] Blaze@sopuli.xyz 4 points 5 days ago

the consolidation mafia 😆

@threelonmusketeers@sh.itjust.works , we have a new name 😄

Simply reposting content is harassment? Now this is a stretch.

[–] Sunshine@sopuli.xyz 0 points 2 days ago

The r/buyfromeu moderators would also also disagree with your premonition.

[–] Blaze@sopuli.xyz 5 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago) (1 children)

OP has a 7 days old account, with most posts being aggressively against a consolidation suggestion on !fedigrow@lemm.ee

Not sure who's harassing who in this scenario https://sopuli.xyz/post/24284086?scrollToComments=true

Edit: seems to also be the new account of this person: https://sopuli.xyz/post/22808036/14753860 who was overtly agressive and negative towards the platform as a whole

[–] bonjour@feddit.org -2 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Oh that's so nice of you to chime in.

Yeah, I also didn't like your instance beefing towards world, so what. I don't like all the instance beefing. Boohoo.

And yes, I am enraged by what they are doing with crows, because I always liked the crows community. Imo, this is how you drive good people off off the fediverse.

[–] Blaze@sopuli.xyz 4 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago) (1 children)

Yeah, I also didn’t like your instance beefing towards world, so what.

Is LW 3 days behind aussie.zone, yes or no? That's my main issue with it, and that thing has been going on for 7 months

Boohoo.

Interesting way to not stir up drama.

[–] bonjour@feddit.org -2 points 5 days ago (1 children)

What? That was a reply towards your claim i was being "overtly aggressive and negative towards the platform as a whole" just because i made a PSA about how buggy lemmy account deletion was. On all instances. You and a couple other people then jumped in to frame it as some lemmy.world problem, which it isn't.

[–] Blaze@sopuli.xyz 3 points 5 days ago

You and a couple other people then jumped in to frame it as some lemmy.world problem, which it isn’t.

Of course, we got corrected on that.

This doesn't change the fact that LW a 3 days delay with aussie.zone, and has for the last 6 months. Which is why a few people have been trying to avoid LW, because it's too large.

You mention "instance beef" a lot, but that's the nature of a federated platform. And here, it's purely technical.

To come back to the main topic, the ml mod is probably not going to answer, and that's fine. Recent examples of other successful consolidations in the past

[–] IsoKiero@sopuli.xyz 1 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Maybe a bit impolite to repost stuff (in general, not just on lemmy), but that's how internet seems to work today. Any platform which gives option to monetize the popularity will receive a ton of accounts which just blatantly steal content from the internet, fill it with ads or product placement and spam the hell out of it.

Meanwhile !corvids@sopuli.xyz has on average a single post per day. And I'm pretty sure that both of those communties are mostly reposts from somewhere else.

[–] bonjour@feddit.org 0 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Yeah, the crows community is low traffic, that makes it even worse imo. Most stuff is being posted by its mod, with almost all original crow content. He has been doing so since summer 23. The sopuli one has been completely dead up until two weeks ago when they started the reposting.

[–] IsoKiero@sopuli.xyz 2 points 5 days ago (1 children)

If it's original content then there's an option to request removal of those posts based on copyright. I at least hope that users in Lemmy are civilized enough to respect that.

But creating (or reviving in this case) another community for same niche is still not harrasment nor hostile. If the mods of both communities think that they're competing with eachother they are free to arrange things differently (splitting already small userbase is not beneficial for either). However it's not something I think any instance mod should interfere with and this kind of metadiscussion should be in those communities, not in general meta.

[–] bonjour@feddit.org -3 points 5 days ago

Thanks for your civil remarks.

I am not sure what the mod of crows thinks of it, i can only assume that he'd think what they do is lame as hell, i have a hard time seeing it any other way. But kudos to him for not even taking the bait and just keeping on doing his thing, unlike me 😆

I am not against the corvids community, if it was an organic community of people interested in crows i'd be all for it, but like i said in the other reply, right now i can only perceive it as a fediverse politics community, not a crows community.
