The part I can't handle is that this game wasn't close. This was a dominant 38 points, not the sort of super intense shooting match that can make someone play above their ability.
This team is going to be so fun.

This is the 2nd time Suns lost to Spurs.
Wemby is living up to the hype. Great basketball from him.
Teams better start stacking up on tall, athletic bigs to counter Wemby the way they did in the early 2000's with bulky bigs to counter Shaq. Y'all been warned.
What you need is a good defensive small forward (or PF) who has lateral quickness and some length to defend Wemby 1 on 1 IMO. He's not heavy, he's not big. He's skinny tall. If you can match his quickness and put a body in front, he's stopped, and you can get into his face to disrupt his shot. There's enough of those on many teams.
They also need to be able to pass and shoot as you can't be on the floor in 2023 if you can't do that ..so 7', athletic, pass and shoot...that's a long list 😅
Easy. Just get .... another Wemby lol
I saw the second half of this game. This was as much an issue of Suns not having a good defensive plan for Wemby and not having bodies to defend him as Wemby being dominant.
Agreed. They really have no idea how to handle Wemby at this time. I imagine a lot of teams will be going through this and things may change as the year goes on.
Vogel kinda disappointed me there since he's supposedly a defensive guru. He kinda figured it out late in 4th quarter by putting a small forward off the bench on Wemby and that's how they closed up on the 22 point deficit (might've been larger) but they tired out from the come back and Spurs were hot from 3 late in 4th.
