Are you telling me that arbitrarily sending citizens without due proccess to an abroad detention camp after being accused (without proof) of anything might be inconstitutional? I am shocked. Shocked I say.

Yeah it really might be! But don’t strain yourself with thinking about it, the scholars are on the case. Constitutional law is very complicated after all and there’s really no way to know if you have any rights at all.

Jeez guys, these are SERIOUS constitutional concerns. Gosh golly, we should just tell Trump to stop! I'm typing up a strongly worded letter as we speak!

As a European I can advise that if serious concerns don't work, you should try drawing wholesome pictures with a chalk next to the White House, and then, if necessary you may even try illuminating courts with national colors... But that should probably be the last resort.

Scholars? We need scholars to tell us that sending US citizens to a concentration camp with no due process is a constitutional crisis??? Schoolhouse Rock, where did we go wrong?

[–] HK65@sopuli.xyz 1 points 4 days ago

Guantanamo is one of my guesses

[–] meliante@lemm.ee 27 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Raises concern? Really? Is that what they're brave enough to say?

[–] CallateCoyote@lemmy.world 3 points 4 days ago

If they had actually done their job, he would have never been reelected. The media was harder on Bernie Sanders when he was winning primaries.

[–] OhioComrade@lemmy.ml 8 points 4 days ago

I think Guantanamo Bay existing for as long as it has shows how much the state cares about such concerns.

[–] kooks_only@lemmy.ca 9 points 4 days ago

Time to do the needful, America.

[–] TassieTosser@aussie.zone 11 points 5 days ago

Raises concerns about people who don't think this should result in guillotines.

[–] besselj@lemmy.ca 11 points 5 days ago

Most reasonable people would say the same thing.

[–] match@pawb.social 4 points 4 days ago

when will they stop saying "raises concerns"and start saying "calls for direct resistance"

[–] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone 8 points 5 days ago

Idea? We're far beyond the "idea" phase here...

[–] ExLisper@lemmy.curiana.net 8 points 5 days ago (1 children)

At this point you can just say it's batshit crazy. Pretending there's some valid legal discussion going on here is not helping.

[–] ShaggySnacks@lemmy.myserv.one 3 points 4 days ago

This is how the media normalizes a blatant unconstitutional action.

[–] uberdroog@lemmy.world 6 points 5 days ago

Fuck the constitution, it raises human concern...like common sense.

[–] Nastybutler@lemmy.world 5 points 5 days ago

No shit, Sherlock

[–] Rumbelows@lemmy.world 3 points 5 days ago

I don’t think he gives a shit

[–] Nougat@fedia.io 3 points 5 days ago

YA FUCKIN THINK??

[–] blazeknave@lemmy.world 2 points 4 days ago

Asking in earnest. Who is their demographic? Same as CBS TV?

[–] bold_atlas@lemmy.world 0 points 5 days ago

I'm so fucking sick of these scholars, experts, journalists, consultants, analysts, reporters. Worthless enablers.

[–] reddit_sux@lemmy.world 0 points 5 days ago

Constitution can be amended.
