If anyone's curious he's talking in terms of 9/11s per capita. Americans will use anything but metric.

[–] reverendsteveii@lemm.ee 36 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Are those constant 9/11s though? Based on COVID policy I'm estimating that one human life in 2001 is worth several dozen in 2023

[–] bamboo@lemmy.blahaj.zone 14 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Turns out the 2020 economy is worth more than a daily number of 9/11 deaths.

[–] popcap200@lemmy.ml 6 points 2 years ago

Yeah, gotta account for inflation.

[–] maryjayjay@lemmy.world 7 points 2 years ago

By that math Israel has killed 4.125 million Gazans

[–] Holzkohlen@feddit.de 7 points 2 years ago

How much is that in bus lenghts?

[–] BaronVonBort@lemmy.world 71 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago) (2 children)

Actually it’s roughly half of one 9/11, by the numbers.

By the numbers in Palestine, though, these estimates get a bit closer

[–] WhatAmLemmy@lemmy.world 58 points 2 years ago (2 children)

They justified these headlines by comparing it as a proportion of population, because we all know that murder is graded based on general statistics instead of real lives. For example, The Vietnam War was America committing over 12,000 9/11's...

[–] sunbytes@lemmy.world 15 points 2 years ago

Also, inflation.

[–] DragonTypeWyvern@literature.cafe 2 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Seems kind of low, honestly.

I assume the Cambodian bombing campaign wasn't included?

[–] AdrianTheFrog@lemmy.world 2 points 2 years ago

More like 800 9/11s (from both sides) if its not per capita.

[–] Kena@lemm.ee 29 points 2 years ago

And then Israel did like 6 morbillion 9/11s in response

Inflation isn't even halting before 9/11 anymore. THIS is Biden's America!

[–] BarrelAgedBoredom@lemm.ee 14 points 2 years ago

How many football fields is a 9/11?

plane water please

[–] yumpsuit@lemmy.world 25 points 2 years ago

Does anyone have a solid understanding of calculus and access to the Scales of Anubis? I need to compute a Fractional 9/11s per Mooch ratio

[–] reverendsteveii@lemm.ee 24 points 2 years ago

That's right, ninety one thousand one hundred

[–] Holzkohlen@feddit.de 20 points 2 years ago (1 children)

That sounds like something Trump might have said. A double 911, it was a 1822

[–] lemmy_get_my_coat@lemmy.world 13 points 2 years ago

No fucking way he'd know that 2 times 911 is 1822

[–] cupcakezealot@lemmy.blahaj.zone 16 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago) (1 children)

if it was that bad then why does nobody call out netanyahu for funding hamas for years in order to destroy the pro peace left in gaza?

[–] Fitzsimmons@lemmy.blahaj.zone 15 points 2 years ago (3 children)

Like, shitloads of people ARE calling him out for that. 75% of Israelis want him to resign. Yet here we are.

I read the new daily and this is the first I've heard of this. I thought the country was firmly behind Bibi. I will say that America media hasnt really been as forthright as they should be on this subject.

[–] Ranger@lemmy.blahaj.zone 6 points 2 years ago

The corporate media misrepresented something? I'm shocked.

[–] cupcakezealot@lemmy.blahaj.zone 5 points 2 years ago

oh i know i meant the politicians defending him and doubling the amount of 9/11s each day :)

[–] ApfelstrudelWAKASAGI@feddit.de 1 points 2 years ago

Mods, can we kill this guy?

[–] mobilehugh@lemmy.ca 8 points 2 years ago (2 children)

It is concerning when a IRL political figure uses a term that was a joke in a marrionette movie (Team America World Police).

Satire is dead & some guy is doing something unmentionable to its corpse.

[–] violetraven@lemmy.blahaj.zone 7 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Where are these screen shots from?

[–] RogueBanana@lemmy.zip 5 points 2 years ago (1 children)

So 9/11 bad but holocaust ok? What a piece of shit to keep funding the genocide

[–] Pipoca@lemmy.world 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Do you seriously think that what's going on in Palestine is equivalent to the literal fucking holocaust?

The one where the entire Jewish population of a major city was massacred in a single day, with industrialized extermination camps, that killed ~2/3rds of all European Jews?

[–] RogueBanana@lemmy.zip 2 points 2 years ago

Obviously not but if biden can make stupid comparisons so can I. No one here actually thinks that so calm down.

[–] SpicyLizards@reddthat.com 3 points 2 years ago

Now I use, "9/11 times 1000!"

[–] Kolanaki@yiffit.net 3 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago) (1 children)

How many 9/11's was the holocaust?

Also: Can we come up with a name better than "9/11?"

[–] countflacula@lemmy.ca 2 points 2 years ago

I guess "world trade center attack" or "wtc attack"?
