I love the Microsoft Sculpt Ergonomic keyboard, but they were discontinued earlier this year. Can anyone recommend a replacement?

Specifically, I'm hoping for something with: Ergo shape, Thin / low height, Minimal travel, Minimal pressure, Completely silent

This is what you are looking for: https://www.amazon.com.au/Perixx-PERIBOARD-335BR-Ergonomic-Mechanical-Keyboard/dp/B0BLZMZF95

I have one at work, and it's great. It's a mechanical keyboard, but it's low profile, low travel, and almost silent. I got the one with the low profile brown tactile switches. I highly recommend it.

Thanks! That looks like a great keyboard. How would you compare it to the Logitech K860?

I've never used the Logitech K860, so I don't have any point of comparison.

But on just comparing the specs, I can see the main difference is the Logitech is a membrane keyboard, and the perixx is a mechanical keyboard. If that matters to you (it does for me) then the perixx is the clearly better board.

Thanks - do you know if there is somewhere I could try it out?

Are you ok with a split keyboard?
If yes then the Glove80 might fit, although it's not completely silent.
Silent low pro switches are supposed to come out in a few months, but you'll probably have to solder those onto the keyboard.

Ok - that just looks weird. And I'm into that. But I would need to try it out first. Do you know anywhere I can do that?

Sadly with most split ergo boards it's such a niche product that you can't really try them out anywhere.

I know there are keyboard enthusiasts events in some places of the world, which might have one.
I'd suggest checking out MoErgo's (Glove80 creators) Discord
Might find a way to try one there

Primary candidates are Perixx' keyboards (335BR is the mechanical contender, but they have a bunch of cheap membrane Sculpt-likes), Logitech K860 (if you're OK with a full-sized keyboard, it's pretty solid), or one of a few two-part options - I made a list when picking mine.

Wow, that's a great help! I love the look of the K860 - it's like a sculpt clone. I would buy one right away, but now you've gotten me interested in checking out all these others.... Is there somewhere I can try this stuff out?

Depends on where you are in the world - e.g. here in Ukraine you can occasionally see an ergonomic keyboard or two among the office keyboards in electronics stores.

From my own experience (having replaced my Sculpt with K860 when it came out) I'll say that it feels pretty similar, but keys take slightly less force to actuate. Supposedly Microsoft Surface Ergonomic Keyboard is also similar, but I haven't had a chance to try out that one.

Keep it ergo

Posts must be of/about keyboards that have a clear delineation between the left and right halves of the keyboard, column stagger, or both. This includes one-handed (one half doesn't exist, what clearer delineation is that!?)

¹ split meaning a separation of the halves, whether fixed in place or entirely separate, both are fine.
² ortholinear meaning keys layed out in a grid
