Say it out loud but into your voice recorder/audio journal. Add in some extra flair like "Experiment failed, Subject B is a lost cause. Weeks of observation wasted."

This, I find standard thinking and talking in my head to be two very different processes. Thinking is omnipresent, like the kernel level, talking is, as @HowAbt2morrow has put it, a literal voice. It's a separate app.
