MODERATORS

I like how lemm.ee didn't defederated very many people and maintained a chill vibe in terms of moderation.

What instances have similar vibe?

Edit: I been looking into it and seems that an instance with a similar outlook on federation and not full of power tripping admins censoring is hilariouschaos.com

I moved to .zip for the similar federation style, not being part of the big instance fighting, using the latest lemmy version, and defederated from Threads.

But man, migrating to another instance made me really appreciate what @sunaurus@lemm.ee has done. I immediately noticed how .zip, while also maintained well by the instance admins, is noticeably slower than .ee. They also have issues with image proxying for alexandrite, which .ee doesn’t have.

Not a knock on .zip though. I do intend to make it my new home instance. Rather, it’s more of how .ee was exceptionally ran.

Please choose smaller sized instances. We want to spread the people around so that admins don't get overloaded.

Until the admin(s) of the small instance decide to shut down because there isn't enough users like mine will soon.

Seems like between 150 and 200 people registered on Lemmy.zip

piefed.social and lemmy.world I like the web gui of piefed but not too keen on the one app that supports it. Maybe voyager.app can implement a way to integrate it.

For Reddit-like forums, The/Brain/Bin (Mbin) and Ani.Social (Lemmy) both seem pretty chill too, and also not defederating with a lot of people. Still looking for a Piefed instance, though that I am doing very slowly.

What about instances that are more “mainstream”, like Lemmy.ca?

I chose not to migrate but rather start afresh @ programming.dev (having tech interests made it an obvious choice).

Communick aligns 100% with sunaurus's views regarding defederation. I've put a special offer for those who want to try it: https://lemm.ee/post/65961634
