I'm going to be making a box like this with my RPi5 as I already have one and they sell just the OS. I am researching how to add GPS to the Pi5 and am now looking into antennas.

In this photo the antenna for GPS is the same style as the WiFi antenna. AFAIK they are referred to as "RF" antennas but I cannot find info saying that GPS will work with RF antennas. The GPS antennas are typically patch style or weirdly shaped.

Can I use an RF style antenna for GPS? Are there particularities when using that style of antenna? I know the receiver I'm looking to use is an active style. If not then I could use some help finding a small patch style antenna preferably with a detachable SMA cable port so I can run a super short cable out of the case.
