I was actually shocked at how fucked up it is still from Helene. I guess I shouldn't have been though.

Haven't been since Helene. I'm about 4 hours south...but WNC is mostly so beautiful. Major Feels for the folks there, so badly impacted. Rain nonstop for a month, then Helene. They didn't stand a chance.

Really interesting to see that little goat trail devoid of lichen in the second photo. I assume this is the path most people and animals tread when walking up the slabs.

Me too, I actually sat and considered it for a second. I had your thought, but I also thought that maybe the water during heavy rains is accumulating there and making it harder for lichen to grow? I have no idea though.

You might be right, I think water makes more sense.
