It's because they think they are making a necessary sacrifice for the greater good. The idea of MAGA is to make America great again and to sacrifice everything to do it. It's a belief system based on nothing but one man's promise to make a vague promise that this will all be worth it in the end. They will fight tooth and nail to achieve what they believe will make America great again without realizing that the people they are fighting alongside have a completely different version of what would make America great. And it's the reason why those in charge keep the promise as vague as possible. Everyone has their own vision of the world, but if you have "make America great again" as the end of the discussion you can both be talking about completely different things yet be on the same side.
