Thanksgiving Vespers
Christmas Markets have already started here in Germany, and we'll be visiting some soon. Vespers is one of my all time favorite scents, and I'm thankful that I could use it for the shave this morning. Such a fantastic cranberry note.
Thanks to everyone who helps run this Lemmy instance and to those that make this a great community.
Rating: 5/5
Vespers is terrific! Far too good to be considered a "Christmas scent".
Agreed!
Christmas Eve was a PIF from u/MadDingersYo, who I haven't seen in a year, and this is the third Christmas season I'm enjoying it already.
I'm leaning into the gourmand aspects of the soap by pairing it with Pomona's mulled cider and Spiced's ginger bread scent.
Spiced’s ginger bread scent
I hadn't thought of it that way. Clearly it is time to revisit Spice.
On December 6th, kids here get a Samichlaussäckli: a jute sack with mandarins, gingerbread, and peanuts. Spiced is essentially every Swiss kid's memory of the Christmas season minus peanuts🎅
Huh. I wondered if I would pick up gingerbread from the scent, but did not. Then again, I don't have any tradition of gingerbread in my past.
I'm wondering whether gingerbread spices are different in anglosaxon recipes. The similarity between Spiced and gingerbread here is not subtle 🤔
Yes, there could be a recipe difference. And, we Americans aren't necessarily known for fine cuisine. I may not have had a true gingerbread.
And, we Americans aren't necessarily known for fine cuisine.
They should, though, IMO. There are few European cities which can compete with American cities when it comes to the variety of different cuisines (and fusions thereof). Maybe London, which incidentally is also massively underrated as a culinary destination. Melting Pot++;

That's because authentic American food is pretty much what's on the McDonald's menu :)
Completely agree about London. Some of the best Indian food I've ever had was there.
Thursday, November 23, 2023 - Shavesgiving
As has been noted, it's Thanksgiving here in the US. And has also already been stated, I'm thankful this year to all of you in this Lemmy instance. Happy Shavesgiving to you all.

Brush: AP Shave Co Strawberry Cream 26mm G5A
Lather: House of Mammoth - Almond Leather - Soap
Post Shave: Unilever - Brut - Aftershave
Post Shave: Thayers - Lemon - Toner
Talc: Pinaud Clubman
Well, Almond Leather was the last of my HoM soaps. I was able to use each of them this month. Great scent! (But you knew that.) The Frio 14 delivered a terrific shave with feather-light comfort, as expected. I'm grateful to have this as part of my "14" collection.
It's a holiday here in the states. My cascading priority interrupt controller has been put into simple interrupt mode so I have little control over my time. If you're celebrating, enjoy your holiday.
Almond Leather++;
Frio15;
Happy thanksgiving!

A quick shave under time pressure, with a few weepers resulting.
Have a good night!

I haven't used Spiced in quite a while. This is a terrific scent and for some reason I think of Black Watch, SSL, and Heather first, but this scent holds its own and shines where the others don't. A very nice evening shave!
Spiced++
Spiced ++; The quintessential Christmas scent IMO

A bit late posting. We've had a great day visiting family after a relatively easy drive. Tomorrow will be more driving and a visit with some other extended family. They're eager to see their great-nephew.
One more gourmand shave before Fougère Friday takes over. I haven't used Pharaoh's Dreamsicle in a while, and I had forgotten how much I like it.

Wellness night shave. Two passes on my head, 1 around the beard area/neck.
Currently I am back to a beardstache and loving it. With partial beards, I always am overly obsessed with symmetry and getting every little line right - this is much more easy going.
I had the day off before another early shift tomorrow, relaxed a bit and already started to work on my resignation.
Since it's Thanksgiving over in the US, I also want to use the opportunity to thank everyone who works on this Lemmy instance and keeps it a nice little shave haven for those of us who've fled from Reddit. All of you folks do a terrific job and you can be proud of this tiny community!
Aw that's sweet. Thanks.
No problem. You're doing great work over here, I just wish we had a tiny little bit more activity...but no one can force anyone to use Mastodon and Lemmy.
