Too little too late imo. This feels like more of a desperate ploy on behalf of Nvidia, as the US assumed their restrictions would set China back years. Maybe they did, but in the long run it was detrimental to Nvidia & other American companies.

After gutting the American scientific community of funding, this was likely the last policy preserving any American competitiveness in the future

I did support this policy, but more from an ecological perspective given the extraordinary Chinese gains in AI training and inference efficiency that the restrictions engendered
