Reading Anne Rice's Cry to Heaven woke me as to exactly how horrifying castration is. Jesus. I'll never read that one again.

I was a big fan of the vampire chronicles and the Mayfair witches books. Got Cry to Heaven on disc for a long road trip and traumatized the whole family.
