The lighter side of ADHD
When you hate your workplace so much you just can't... Good thing I'm switching jobs in September and have my last day somewhere in mid-August π
If I don't sleep well, there is no amount of Adderall and caffeine that's going to make me functional, trust me I was 3 cups deep by mid afternoon and completely useless the entire time.
I love my job (and I would say to an atypical amount), and I'm on meds... But this doesn't change the fact that some days you just don't have the energy or brainpower to do anything - especially if your job requires deep thought and concentration.
It's taken me a good while to learn not to feel guilty about this, and also not to take it as a sign of me not liking my job.
Yuupp know that end of the spectrum as well. I work in IT security so basically work and hobby blend together nicely to enable many hyperfocus rabbit holes :D Buuut when you're working with (or rather against) a completely fucked up org structure that just sucks the joy and the productivity out of you, there's nothing even the meds can do π
I feel this way too hard. I work with software and have a busy but chill job in the sense of no one really bothers me except ticket users/cool coworkers.
I get super distracted not only with rabbit holes but also trying to get organized.
Recently I've been trying to find ways to improve my productivity but its led me down hours or trying different apps/programs to try to better my work flow which in turn has hurt my work flow.
On top of that. The meds don't hit the same and I've found myself on my phone more.
I love my job too so it's not even that I don't wanna do the work lol.
Got any strategies for working around this? I'm currently in year 6 in a 4 year program (I am in year 4 classes at least though) because I often just can't get myself to do the assignments. It's harder to not feel guilty when I'm hemorrhaging college money to fail, but the days where everything just works are pretty scarce lately.
