Long story short, I own both an Ally and a steam deck. Put windows on the deck day 1.
With handheld companion and the “cpu boost” option, I’m getting more frames in my games on the deck than I am at 15 watts on the Ally. Which in of itself is great news, however…
I need a rundown on a few things relating to changing the tdp on the deck in windows. Obviously handheld companion can do it but here are the questions.
- What is the default tdp the deck runs at in windows without any change? Is it the full 15w?
- I know changing tdp in windows can cause a ban in multiplayer games. Is this only the case if you change tdp after the game is launched or am I at risk as long as I have the tdp set to a custom limit using any software at anytime?
- Is there anything else I need to know about changing the tdp in windows on the deck?
Any and all help is appreciated!
