The revelation could shape the debate over Americans’ health privacy as states move to criminalize abortion and drugs related to reproductive health

Though some of the chains require their lawyers to review law enforcement requests, three of the largest — CVS Health, Kroger and Rite Aid, with a combined 60,000 locations nationwide — said they allow pharmacy staff members to hand over customers’ medical records in the store.

Isn't that a violation of HIPPA?

It should be, but I'm betting there's some bullshit clause somewhere that allows it.

IDK, protecting medical data is pretty important, see this incident involving an attempted blood draw by police in Utah, which is a very conservative and police friendly state, yet the police settled for a massive payout and the legislature promptly clarified the law to ensure it was clear a warrant is needed.

I don't know of any cases directly related to pharmacies, but I would honestly be surprised if that was somehow exempted from medical information protection laws. Then again, I've been unpleasantly surprised before...

Lemmy doesn't interact very well with the Washington Post. Most of us get no preview picture at all.

I think it's a kbin specific issue. IDK about others, but the preview pic I get is pretty NSFW

Bring it up with the local admin; there might be an issue with a corrupted cache or something.

[–] 567PrimeMover@kbin.social 2 points 2 years ago

Yeah IIRC it's a known issue they've been working on for a while
