I keep missing appointments because Google Calendar doesn't notify me of them on my iPhone, so I look up the issue to find that you aren't allowed to talk about it.

Google calendar events can be synced through the Apple calendar and at least for me by default have reminders set 30 minutes before. I have my account set up through the mail app, but to check this do the following:

Go to Settings -> Calendar -> Accounts -> Gmail. Make sure it’s set to sync your calendar. There’s also the ability to add an account here. Then go back to the calendar app and find an event to check if reminders are set.

This is helpful and my mild anger has dissipated.

When I create an event I can set an email reminder. Not a great workaround and I'm sure you've been told it but an option nonetheless.

Oof, I initially thought you found this and meant the poster should be contacting Apple.

I think I’d be more than “mildly” infuriated if a legit issue just got silenced every time it was posted.

Whenever i search for a communitty issue its always locked from people replying it. Some cases someone who have access will reply

The level of annoyance I've had with Google has gone from minor to borderline outraged.
