  • Brush: L'Occitane Plisson Synthetic
  • Razor: Ever-Ready Streamline Gen 2
  • Blade: Personna GEM PTFE (1)
  • Lather: Noble Otter - Hamami - Soap
  • Post Shave: Aqua Velva - Ice Blue - Aftershave
  • Post Shave: Nivea Sensitive Balm

Razor on loan from @EldrormR@sub.wetshaving.social. I've used a Pushbutton, Clog-Pruf, MM24, and now a Streamline. The Streamline is the first time I've actually, maybe, possibly, probably enjoyed a GEM shave. It went very well, especially for a 1st use PTFE blade. During the shave I couldn't help thinking the heavy weight had something to do with it, but who knows.

I forgot to post yesterday, but I promise I shaved. This tub of Hamami is getting very close, as is my tub of Roam. I'm going to use them both until they're gone. With any luck I'll have back-to-back kills.

but I promise I shaved

It's obvious you're a daily shaver but I know what you mean. While traveling I didn't shave one day in early 2022 and didn't like that at all.

As an aside, I miss the monthly hardware and software reports. For software, I know that @worbx@sub.wetshaving.social was also including the Lemmy community.

[–] djundjila@sub.wetshaving.social 2 points 11 months ago

Me too, I miss them. I keep thinking at some point I'd have time to play with them myself. I never do

Yayyy, but also, really? But mostly, yayy!

The gen 2 Streamline is really nice, I enjoy it too.

[–] walden@sub.wetshaving.social 2 points 11 months ago

I know, I haven't been singing the praises of GEM recently. I have to be in the mood for them, but the mood does strike!

SOTD 19.12.2023 - Celebratory shave

  • Prep: warm water
  • Razor: Stando Perun
  • Blade: BIC Chrome Platinum
  • Brush: TGS Galaxy 26 mm
  • Lather: Noble Otter - Neon Sun
  • Post Shave: Dick Johnson's "God Spray", Aloe Vera moisturiser

A 1-pass celebratory head shave. Today two of my final orders for this year arrived and apart from general grooming products I finally got Neon Sun by Noble Otter.

Off the tub, I immediately was hooked on the scent. This could very well make it to my list of all-time Favs. I don't like pure citrus scents, but combined with some "darker" ingredients like patchouli and musk it's really great. I was really excited when the scent got more pronounced once it was lathered up - this is why I enjoy wetshaving, unique scents with great artwork! The tub art is even holographic in some parts, reminding me of trading cards of my youth. It performed as great as any other NO soap I own. One use of the styptic pencil as shaving and coughing don't mix well...

The thing to celebrate? Today I had a call from my new nursing home that the contract is finally ready. So immediately after my early shift, I drove there to sign everything. Everything went well - I even know how I'll work in January! Now I finally have a written contract and an additional feeling of safety. It seems like everything today took a turn for the best outcome. Celebrating such an important new career step with an awesome new soap was just the icing on the cake!

Thanks! It surely is.

[–] djundjila@sub.wetshaving.social 3 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Yay, new year, new job!

Congrats again😊

[–] DaveWave94@sub.wetshaving.social 2 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Thanks DJ. It's definitely a bit more relaxed today now that I have the contract in my hands. The new year will bring lots of changes, but I hope for a good outcome!

[–] djundjila@sub.wetshaving.social 2 points 11 months ago (1 children)

I also just signed a new contract for January. Feels good 😊

[–] DaveWave94@sub.wetshaving.social 2 points 11 months ago

Great, congratulations to you too! Hope you'll find joy and a positive challenge in your new place of work. 🍀👍🏻

Congrats! May the next year be better!

[–] DaveWave94@sub.wetshaving.social 3 points 11 months ago

Thank you. Next year will definitely be better, I have a positive feeling 😎

  • Brush: AP Shave Co Summer 28mm G5C

  • Razor: Dovo Bismarck 6/8" Full Hollow Round Point

  • Lather: Noble Otter - Thé Noir et Vanille - Soap

  • Toner: Thayers - Rose - Toner

  • Aftershave: Noble Otter - Thé Noir et Vanille - Aftershave

  • Talc: Pinaud Clubman

2 passes. Face lather. Excellent shave.

My schedule over the last two months has been packed but I've found that if I allot 20 minutes each day for a shave I normally complete it in 15 or less and don't feel rushed because I know I can just enjoy the experience.

Today was not different. I wasn't distracted and could enjoy my shave. I'm adding Tea for Twosday to my collection of Tuesday shaves [Tabac Tuesday, Bleu Teusday, and Zingari Zischtig]. My shave with TNeV was so good I know I'll be revisiting this setup often.

Dec. 19, 2023

  • Brush: Yaqi 26mm Synthetic
  • Razor: Karve Overlander
  • Blade: Tatara
  • Lather: Spearhead - Sea Spice Lime - Soap
  • Post Shave: Spearhead - Sea Spice Lime - Aftershave

Good shave. Love the lime.

[–] gcgallant@sub.wetshaving.social 2 points 11 months ago (1 children)

I bet SSL is a reminder of warm weather up there in Canada. What do you think of the Tatara blades? Anything unique about them?

[–] MaplePoplar@sub.wetshaving.social 3 points 11 months ago

It’s been a very mild winter so far for most of Canada, thankfully. The summer vibes will be crucial when we are hitting -40c.

The Tatara blades are working well for me but I have only tried them in the Overlander which is a wonderfully forgiving razor. The Overlander even makes those feather blades useable.

Tuesday, December 19, 2023: Hexenkraft Dienstag

Another late shave, with the warm and comforting Autumn Ash. I will probably take this blade to 50 shaves, and then bin it.

Have a good night!

[–] djundjila@sub.wetshaving.social 2 points 11 months ago

Autumn Ash 🍂++;

50 is a good number

Swan Song Tabac Tuesday. The Fat Lady Sings. Nadir Knot. Final Curtain

  • Brush: Dogwood Handcrafts Tabak Oridjinal (at first)
  • Brush: Chisel and Hound Ambrosia Maple with 26 mm synthetic Maggard knot
  • Razor: Filarmonica 14 Doble Temple (8/8", extra full hollow, carbon steel)
  • Lather: Mäurer & Wirtz Tabac Original
  • Aftershave: Mäurer & Wirtz Tabac Original (splash)
  • Aftershave: Mäurer & Wirtz Tabac Original (balm)
  • Fragrance: Mäurer & Wirtz Tabac Original

I'm calling the time of death for this Zenith knot: TabacTuesday of the Lord 2023-12-19 06:13:47 CET. When I brushed the knot to get rid of loose bristles before they end up sticking to my soap, I was just pulling out hundreds and hundreds of them. #Sad. This is the first Zenith knot to do this to me (out of 9 boar knots and one horse) and it's not my most used by far (that would be the B21), so I'm chalking this down as bad luck.

Otherwise a great Tabac Tuesday shave, with the same razor as I suspect @InfernalInternal@sub.wetshaving.social will be using today. Since I've been quadholing the last two shaves, I threw in the balm today, to keep the streak going.

[–] PorkButtsNTaters666@sub.wetshaving.social 2 points 11 months ago (1 children)

RIP! BTW, did you buy the knot like that, or did you extract it from a brush?

[–] djundjila@sub.wetshaving.social 2 points 11 months ago (1 children)

I bought it from Zenith directly. I've done that for multiple brushes with any issues. This is the first time I see a Zenith knot disintegrate like this, and I've got 9 of my own and must have sent at least 20 to friends.

Old_hiker told me that Zenith used to have QA issues with shedding knots years ago. Maybe I was just unlucky and got an old knot?

[–] PorkButtsNTaters666@sub.wetshaving.social 2 points 11 months ago (2 children)

Thanks!

Another question: have you tried lem.el to connect to Lemmy? Emacs freezes when I try to connect (not just here, but also reddit.de).

[–] djundjila@sub.wetshaving.social 2 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Update, I've dropped the ball on this, I went in vacation mode (i.e., lazy and intoxicated) instead. I will try and report back at some point though, promise! 😅

[–] PorkButtsNTaters666@sub.wetshaving.social 2 points 11 months ago (1 children)

No problem, enjoy your vacation!

[–] djundjila@sub.wetshaving.social 1 points 11 months ago

Thanks buddy! You too!

[–] djundjila@sub.wetshaving.social 2 points 11 months ago

I haven't tried, i will try and report back

[–] gcgallant@sub.wetshaving.social 2 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Replacing a knot is so easy that it is the kind of thing I will procrastinate forever. Because of that handle, though, I imagine you'll get right on it. Will you replace it with another Zenith boar?

[–] djundjila@sub.wetshaving.social 2 points 11 months ago (1 children)

I've ordered a AP Shave Co gealousy A3 fan as a replacement. I have 8 other Zenith boar brushes, so trying this seemed more interesting 😊

[–] gcgallant@sub.wetshaving.social 2 points 11 months ago (1 children)

I'll be interested in your impression of the Gelousy knot. I have a Gelousy SHD bulb that I like, but in retrospect, wish I had ordered in the fan shape.

[–] djundjila@sub.wetshaving.social 2 points 11 months ago

I will definitely write about it here😊
