I read the wiki page for digg and found this now-ironic comment:
Alexis Ohanian, founder of rival site Reddit, said in an open letter to Rose:
"this new version of digg reeks of VC meddling. It's cobbling together features from more popular sites and departing from the core of digg, which was to 'give the power back to the people.'[56]"
“You Either Die A Hero, Or You Live Long Enough To See Yourself Become The Villain”
History does like to repeat itself

And here I am upvoting posts that I think are useful, thinking that it will help.

I would like to believe it will, but as bad as Reddit karma was, it served a purpose. Without karma (or some rating system), moderation on Lemmy will be much harder.
Lemmy does have karma, it is stored in the DB, and the API returns it. It just isn’t displayed on the UI.
I believe it's called reputation instead
If I remember correctly, the properties the API returns are comment_score
and post_score
.
seems to be correct
I love the movies. So broken that they sent billions of soldiers while they could bomb them from Orbit
