From what i know the things are 100% manually operated and don't have internet access.

Meme aside, i would assume this creates a physically painless and comfortable death so any malfunction that could lower the comfort should be considered an issue.

Read an article where it was described nitrogen was used to replace oxygen in the pod, which causes a quick and painless ending.
