I mean... It is pretty fucking weird to do that when you're sitting right behind the dude and not even say anything?

Maybe it's a Zoomer thing? I don't even see the point in Instagram. I had an account for a bit but realised I had nothing to photograph

My Instagram is 100% pictures of animals. Then once in awhile I'll scroll back and look at all the cute pups I've met over the years.

I can't stand how many ads are on there so I never browse and have no idea how other people use it..

That's a great idea! I often feed starlings bites of my Greggs baguette. I never thought I could photograph them for Instagram. 😀🐦

I love animals and I love taking pictures so when Instagram started I thought it'd be a good place to put them. It's easy to sort photos from a real camera but I find it tedious to do on a phone

But, like, can't you just use Google photos or something comparable for that?

People get small dopamine hits when they see their social media posts get points.

Like Mike Elgan's "Nicebook".

I mean… if you never take photos or don’t like looking at them, it’s not surprising you don’t have a use for it or pixelfed.

pixelfed

Excuse me? What's this? Federated Flickr/Instagram?

[–] mateomaui@reddthat.com 4 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago)

Yes, it’s fantastic: https://pixelfed.social

Here’s the dev’s links:

I can lose hours just browsing everyone’s nature photography.

If you’re on iOS, decent apps for it are Tusker and Vernissage… and maybe Mona or Ivory, but they aren’t built for it so the compatibility has a snag here and there.

Tusker uses a traditional Mastodon interface, while Vernissage is minimal-first with a main view of just photos with nothing else.

Also I think Instagram is primarily used by millennials

[–] wsweg@lemmy.world 2 points 2 years ago

Younger millennials and older gen z (age range of 20s-30s)

If the genders were reversed and it was a dude peeking over some random girl in his class' shoulder to get her insta without talking to her everyone would rightly be calling him an incel creep.

[–] brbposting@sh.itjust.works 21 points 2 years ago

Hmm? The post doesn’t mention any shoulder surfing. Sounds like she searched the guys name but couldn’t view his photos without following due to his privacy settings.

Wrongly.

Being interested in the opposite sex is no worse than being interested in the same sex.

[–] INHALE_VEGETABLES@aussie.zone 2 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Do we live on the same planet?

[–] Mango@lemmy.world 1 points 2 years ago

Does your planet have an Ohio and Pokemon games?

[–] lseif@sopuli.xyz 9 points 2 years ago (1 children)

ig doesnt notify for a denied request. so was op refreshing the page until it updated?

[–] vinylshrapnel@lemmynsfw.com 14 points 2 years ago

I think her post implies she watched him deny it on his phone.

This made me laugh.
