Wait how can they? Wouldn’t them being able to buy it not make it “residential” anymore?

Cause a hotel is not a residential property.

This just results in larger complexes being owned exclusively by the ultra rich. This idea outlaws the very concept of a co-op.

Hotels used to be where you lived if you were young and semi-transient. This worked because AirBNB had not yet been invented.

Landlords will still exist, it's "renting" that needs to die. The "landlord" should be offering land contracts or private mortgages, either of which make the "tenant" an owner or co-owner of the property. The "landlord" offers the land contract and a comprehensive maintenance agreement that they can drop when they buy out the remainder of the landlord's equity.
