I was there! Camped out overnight in a parking lot with my husband and a friend; there were two people in line ahead of us. Bought a DVD of Charlie's Angels from the Toys R Us next door to the Circuit City to play in the PlayStation 2 once we got it home since it was the first thing we owned that could play DVDs. We kept the one my husband bought, and sold the one I bought to the friend for cash (limit one per customer) and he tried to sell it but got scammed. Good times!

That's very cool. Thank you for sharing. How did you guys know there was a midnight launch?
Oh, we weren't at a midnight launch; I think we had to camp until 7am and then the guy opening the store sold them to us first thing. Before they closed the night before, they gave us numbered slips and said that if we were still there in the morning, that was the order we could buy them in. I think our friend called around to a bunch of stores to find out who would have them at launch and sell them without pre-orders, first thing in the morning.
Everyone is so oddly calm, pre-smartphone.
That is such an interesting observation! Some of these people seem to move and even blink more slowly lol
