It's people like this that deserve America's health care bills.

[-] Ubermeisters@lemmy.zip 70 points 10 months ago

Nobody deserves American health care bills. Nobody.

[-] UFODivebomb@programming.dev 7 points 10 months ago

Agreed. Im fine with my tax dollars going to doctors for practice fixing dumbasses before getting to me.

[-] burningmatches@feddit.uk 6 points 10 months ago

There are a lot more old people with diabetes and heart disease than dumbasses with broken bones.

[-] red@feddit.de 3 points 10 months ago* (last edited 10 months ago)

That's a possibility. The guy acted grossly negligent and thus the accident insurance can reduce the coverage and in some cases even deny it completely.

[-] queermunist@lemmy.ml 46 points 10 months ago

Second time?

This is a fetish.

[-] nestEggParrot@lemmy.sdf.org 4 points 10 months ago

So it was for research? Give me sauce.

[-] jimmux@programming.dev 3 points 10 months ago

Hey, he could just be taking inspiration from Wim Hof.

Ok, yeah probably fetish.

[-] RickyRigatoni@lemmy.ml 43 points 10 months ago

you're supposed to use a trash can lid to ride it to the top idiot

[-] CanadaPlus@lemmy.sdf.org 11 points 10 months ago

Mmm spinal compression injuries.

I was expecting one of those Addam's family contraption, but this is similar i guess.

[-] Durotar@lemmy.ml 34 points 10 months ago

At least his brain is not injured.

[-] stopthatgirl7@kbin.social 9 points 10 months ago

But hopefully this knocked some sense into it.

I see the jet quite often and think "Wonder what would happen if you jumped in that"

Thanks to this daft cunt, I know now

I mean the jet is about 140m / 460ft high, to give you an idea of how powerful it is

Edit - corrected numbers, thanks!

[-] Skunk@sh.itjust.works 14 points 10 months ago* (last edited 10 months ago)

140m high and 200km/h or 500 liters/second. Close look on YT for the non GVA people https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gmt9GQSCcCU

I really don't get it, you can feel its power when you get to the barrier. This thing reeks of "do not get closer" feeling.

Yet, that dude decided to kiss it. He could have won the 2023 Darwin award but he was very lucky.

[-] Mr_Blott@feddit.uk 12 points 10 months ago

Sorry I forgot to convert the 500 litres per second

You guys over the pond, that's 2.28 washing machines per second

[-] Kmcb182@lemmy.world 1 points 10 months ago

But how many football fields is that?

[-] Jamie@jamie.moe 9 points 10 months ago

It was around 8:00 p.m. when a man in his twenties broke through the Jet d’eau’s security barrier and put his head on the nozzle. He was then thrown violently backwards.

After coming to his senses, the young man tried to hang on to the jet. A gesture which earned him to be propelled several meters high before falling on the slab.

If I'm reading this right, did he get tossed backwards, not learn anything, then decide to go for it again?

[-] Skunk@sh.itjust.works 5 points 10 months ago

Yup, he did.

First he tried a kiss, got rejected, so he went for a hug that sent him flying.

[-] moody@lemmings.world 3 points 10 months ago

No, he definitely learned something. He learned that he had to hold on to it to resist.

Then, he learned that he's an idiot.

[-] mrnotoriousman@kbin.social 2 points 10 months ago

That was my take lmaooo

First actual example of the intrusive thoughts winning. Theyre supposed to keep you from harm.

Please somebody find the video

[-] pjhenry1216@kbin.social 8 points 10 months ago

"20 minutes"? Is that some news show like "60 minutes" but shorter?

[-] Petter1@lemm.ee 6 points 10 months ago

It’s a free (money by ads) paper news thingy, which you can read while using public transport. Not very high level press but cheap little articles.

[-] Skunk@sh.itjust.works 1 points 10 months ago

You got your answer for the 20 minutes.

But we do have a show named 52 minutes, and it is usually a little bit shorter than 52 minutes...

[-] twistedtxb@lemmy.ca 6 points 10 months ago

Fucked around and found out.

[-] Kbobabob@lemmy.world 5 points 10 months ago
[-] stown@sedd.it 2 points 10 months ago

I can't find where it says this was the second time in the article. Can you quote it?

[-] Epic2112@lemmy.world 8 points 10 months ago

It starts literally 2 sentences in, you can't find it?

[-] stown@sedd.it 2 points 10 months ago

Ah, I read that as part of the same incident. I see now what was meant by twice - not really a repeat offender.

[-] 22dobbeltskudhul@lemmy.world 2 points 10 months ago

Sounds like he was on drugs/having a psychotic break tbh

[-] shapesandstuff@feddit.de 2 points 10 months ago

Or a concussion/disorientation after the first time.

Or a very weird choice of attempted suicide.

[-] iturnedintoanewt@lemm.ee 6 points 10 months ago

I guess this will always remain appropiate.

[-] xilliah@beehaw.org 4 points 10 months ago

How moist of him

[-] LazyM11@lemmy.world 2 points 10 months ago

Lmao awesome

[-] DigitalFrank@lemmy.world 2 points 10 months ago

This doesn't seem like an accident at all.

[-] selokichtli@lemmy.ml 1 points 10 months ago* (last edited 10 months ago)

Is that an accident, though?

[-] HowMany@lemmy.ml 1 points 10 months ago

Look. I'm famous.
