Why bother with the hassle of check fraud? Just go steal a car.

[–] IphtashuFitz@lemmy.world 25 points 10 months ago

It’s not stealing if he puts one of those PR1V8T3 “license” plates on it…

[–] TragicNotCute@lemmy.world 17 points 10 months ago

Just make sure it’s the corporation stealing the car, not the person. Ez

[–] BilboBargains@lemmy.world 6 points 10 months ago (2 children)

You wouldn't download a car.

I did back when I played GTA 4. MANY cars, in fact!

The penalties for white collar fraud are significantly lower than that of physical theft.

Aw this one likes the idea of free stuff but is smart enough to realise it at least might be bullshit. Most sovcits are reprehensible because they're wrong and entitled about it, IMO. This lady just sounds like she's in a bad spot and doesn't have a lot of options. Sad, in a "For sale: Baby shoes, never worn" way (i suppose in a Hemingway 🥁)

It's like they are trying to be ethical thieves.

[–] BonesOfTheMoon@lemmy.world 28 points 10 months ago

Sure, they think they've cracked a secret code.

[–] Rhynoplaz@lemmy.world 8 points 10 months ago* (last edited 10 months ago)

Still not ethical. Lawful evil at best.

[–] Lifecoach5000@lemmy.world 22 points 10 months ago

Probably something along the lines of check fraud?

[–] Aggravationstation@lemmy.world 20 points 10 months ago (7 children)

Do Americans really spell it "check" rather than "cheque"?

Yes, because we weren’t conquered for a century by the French during our formative language years.

You prefer having two letters tacked onto the end rather than just one?

Why waste the space? /s

To be fair, they also invented the word queue, which is 80% useless vowels.

In France they use Jacque hammers.

[–] betterdeadthanreddit@lemmy.world 8 points 10 months ago

Of course we do, that's the word.

Someone send them a copy of Catch Me If You Can

Apparently the biggest con that guy did was writing a book people believed.
