Society has a major problem with assuming someone knows what terms you are using when they don't

I can't even tell where any of the places are on this community when they use acronyms if they are outside of my home country

I know NSW = New South Wales and QLD = Queensland since I live in Australia but no one outside Australia is going to know that

Those I do recognize. I think it all depends on where someone's interest lies.

But I also totally understand your point. No, acronyms are used much to much today. Not everyone is in the know on what others abbreviate.
