Ha, I was gonna recommend retro on sdf.

Relaxed section for discussion and debate that doesn't fit anywhere else. Whether it's advice, how your week is going, a link that's at the back of your mind, or something like that, it can likely go here.

I just made a new community on my new instance! It's aim is for magic users and psychonauts (psychedelics). !magic@wizanons.dev.
We're inclusive, friendly, and magic themed! Feel free to subscribe and post!
I made !uraniumglass@lemmy.villa-straylight.social for collectors of uranium glass to show off their finds!
It's a small community but I like !engrish@vlemmy.net (I really think we need a better way to link communities.)
I am using vlemmy! Small community but very helpful
!cats@midwest.social !boardgames@feddit.de
It's certainly something to see all the different instance names :)
I can't join any midwest.social communities, I have to create a new account. Is this because my account is under sh.itjust.works and midwest.social isn't linked like Beehaw and lemmy.world? Not a question specifically for you, just anyone with fediverse knowledge.
are you on desktop or an app?
I know on desktop you should be able to log into sh.itjust.works, then click on the Communities tab and there will be a search box
if you paste !cats@midwest.social into the search box and hit search it will attempt to federate that community onto sh.itjust.works
it can take a minute to appear but the search result should eventually switch from no results to showing the 'cats' community and you can then view/subscribe right there from your home instance
same applies to any remote community, you need to search for the !community_name@instance_name from your home instances search box
It is not really good, since I have just created it. But as far as I know, there is no such community anywhere in the lemmy verse, hence me creating it:
I saw there’s also an instance !askgaybros@lemmy.cock.social that seems to be trying to make some gay community though it looks very empty so far too
Yes, I saw that! I think they serve different purposes. One is for question related queries (askgaybros), the other is more general, just "gaybros".
Also, naming a community "cock.social" is too "in your face" for my own liking. Pun unintended haha
Yeah they do have a more general community on the instance there but it’s called Gay and is completely empty so I didn’t link that one. But in any case I wasn’t trying to correct you on its non-existence, simply trying add more places to check out for anyone looking for such communities so that we can help them grow!
As for the name, I personally like it but I know that everyone isn’t quite as sex forward as I am. And there’s certainly more to gayness (and queer men) than cock, so I think it’s a valid criticism
We need more sex forwardness in the world! In the real world at least!
Great post / question!
I was trying to think of a way to ask the same question without coming across as some sort of anti-centralisation absolutist lunatic, haha.
If you're the type of gamer who likes to play things at their own pace, and are (mostly) impervious to hype, then !patientgamers@sh.itjust.works is made for you!
I created Pizza, Lego, and a few others I'm trying to get off the ground
