Why do they do this to people. At least teach people that life is actually just chaos masked with a thin veil of hope that's marketed for power and control.

I can't enjoy anything. Everyone is either extremely naive, extremely far gone, or living war life because they understand chaos is now.

Why are people surprised at how shitty things are worldwide? It's literally because all of us don't do anything at all that would ever make real change in this world.

The realest most truthful thing I've learned in my 30+ years is that heartlessness brings success. That's the dominating national ideology masked by the white picket fence dreams of a past that's purely nostalgia. These old people act like things were different but the fact is that they just believed the bullshit and didn't know what the [some] youth knows now. They got played out and are willing to kill the future generations so that they can go on pretending it was a humble life in the past.

Like the old hippies that partied wreckless and abused useful drugs until they were illegalized.

Just some music... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=enQsdbcMOiQ&t=9

I'm so depressed right now I can't pay attention to anything.

Your post is riddled with externalized all-or-nothing thinking. You're going to hate this, but you're thinking yourself into a worse depression.

Yeah. I agree. But it's not something I can stop. I need to get mindfulness/meditation lessons.

heartlessness brings success

Capitalism rewards psychopaths and sociopaths who want to gain control over you and would do anything possible if it means they can make an extra buck. Child labor? Slave labor? Ignoring environmental impact and destroying ecological heritage to avoid paying extra? Sell their own mother? Hell, why not if it means more profits.

And we all just sit around. But why? If that's the way it is... Why do we sit around. When are the tables going to turn? If we are living pointless lives why not just sacrifice them for the greater good?

The cage isn't locked we can all literally just walk out. But no one does. Except the homeless, off the grid, and "illegal" lifestyles. They are the only authentic people. And not even all of those people, because you can live those lifestyle but still live with "the game" in mind. Which isn't helping humanity.

You ever tried to fight capitalism? You ever tried to start a union? You ever tried doing a protest for workers' rights? For better conditions? For human rights? For the environments?

You'll be met with anti riot police forces and be beaten down with rubber bullets, tear gas, pepper spray and police batons.

Besides, in these conditions, who the fuck has time to protest. We're all trying to earn a wage that can afford the roof over our heads and food on our table and even that has become difficult. But it hasn't become problematic enough or a widespread enough problem for everyone to walk out all at once. Too many people are still too comfortable. And it's not in North America's culture to protest. Unlike in Europe. Especially France.

In North America, governments listen to one thing: money. So get rich quick or GTFO.

Sorry for the short post. But that's why I said sacrifice, meaning to expect to die.

I had math growing up. Absolute truth is hard to come by but falsehood cannot exist without truth but truth can exist without falsehood and it seems to play out with most positive to negative qualities. But yeah randomness is the root of our universe but some random things persist so become a larger quantity that just what pure randomness would get you.

(joke) Surely someone taught you a math class! Those are all true. Useless, but true!

Hopefully as a reminder: 1+1=2 0 is the additive identity element integration wrt a fixed point and derivatives are inverse operations

Depression is horrible. The insidious way it creeps up on us and inhabits our lives. One method for avoiding it is to remove sources of negativity. Chief among them are news and social media. Spending time in daylight and the wilderness is something that is often lacking in the winter months. Maintain a good sleep pattern, exercise and diet. Doing basic things well provides the best chance for equanimity. Happy people attract other people and friendship becomes a backstop for mental health. Be alert to the existence of underlying psychological disorders, seek expert advice.

Looking at global statistics the world is getting better. Not in global warming. But violence, freedom, wars, health. It's hard to see because nobody talks about it. It's easy to get stuck doom scrolling. But it's not the whole picture. Negativity sells.

[–] the_q@lemmy.world 5 points 9 months ago

This is terribly unhelpful.

"hey paraplegic, did you know that they're getting better at saving damaged limbs"

Cool 😎👍
