Guinness is bullshit anyway. Someone get that man a "World's Largest Eiffel Tower out of matchsticks that was also rejected by Guinness for bullshit reasons" plaque.

May be due to watching Happy Days at a young age but I never questioned the legitimacy of Guinness world records until I saw hbomberguy's video on Tommy Tallarico. Kinda blew my mind.

Mr Plaud, who has loved making models since he was eight, had originally bought matches in supermarkets to build the structure.

But his arduous plans to win the Guinness World Record fell away when he decided the process was too 'fastidious' – and instead persuaded French matchstick maker Flam'Up to supply him with huge boxes of filled with 190,000 headless matches.

Apparently this is that Guinness objected to. Since he didn't scrape the match heads off, they were just sticks, not matchsticks.

I would not agree, but I'm biased. Fuck Guinness.

So he holds the world record for the largest Eiffel Tower made out of matchstick sized sticks.

Smells like some Billy Mitchell bullshittery. Who’s the current record holder?

Read the fucking article, ya lazy bastard.

Also, fuck Guinness.

Nah. Read the blurb, made a joke, moving on. I don’t care about half the stuff I see on here but I think starting conversations helps lemmy grow so I’m contributing with as much effort as I’d like to.
