I've really liked all things Trek for my entire life. From the awkward action scenes, technobabble, the occasional courtroom drama, and the ability to deliver a clever plot (at around season 2.5), to the attempts to include all people into the community, the overall themes stand true and hold an important piece in my life.

That being said, I've never been a "fan". You know, someone that really dedicates time, thought, and passion to something until I finally watched SNW. I've made the leap from someone that has always really liked Trek into someone that loves it,

There are a few reasons for this. While some may see the writing as slightly campy, I feel that the execution was not only an homage but a better delivery of TOS. The acting is overall an A, the visuals are A+, and the writers really delivered on what I'd expect from Trek; off the wall scenarios that could only be carried through by a small dedicated crew.

I don't really mean to write an essay here, but I guess this is a long way of saying that I've finally found my Trek. They're all valid. Whether you like the camp of TOS, the slow build of TNG, the continuing plot of DS9, the building tension of VOY, or even the theme song from ENT. It is entirely valid and love what you love.

I'm glad to say that I have finally, after all this time, found the Trek for me. I hope you've found yours, because it can be life changing.

I've pretty much had the same, but you have a better way with words. SNW is great.

I'm finding I love it all. As a kid I watched TOS reruns and I'll always cherish those. TNG quickly grew on me and is a favorite.

I gave up after a few seasons of DS9 and Voyager but started again from the beginning last year and it's been great so far.

I recently started Enterprise which I gave up on at the season 1 finale. Glad I did; I like a lot about it.

SNW was awesome the first watch. I'm finding it hard to rewatch most episodes but maybe with more time. But yeah I think it really shows a lot of love and respect for TOS. I think they found a great balance between camp and adventure and sci fi and all the other aspects of TOS.

Discovery put me off at first but at least the first couple seasons that I've seen I appreciate the story and the cinematography. The sorry and characters hooked me in.

Lower Decks is just plain fantastic. Started it last year. Already watched it all twice lol. Probably will just rewatch it regularly lol.

You know.... The biggest thing I like about TOS? This is gonna sound schlocky but... Hope. The idea that maybe, just maybe, there is some way we manage not to destroy ourselves, and somehow find a way to be better--to overcome the worst parts of our nature.

I really need that kind of hope and inspiration with as bleak and hopeless as everything has seemed for so many years now.

not schlocky at all. The hope is what makes Star Trek, Star Trek. It was always meant to be a beacon of hope, a vision of the future where we could look past our differences and work toward our betterment as a species, and as a member of a bigger community. And that holding on to that, fighting for what we believe in, even what it's hard, especially when it's hard, is worth it.

~ 1. No bigotry. This is a Star Trek community. Hating someone off of their race, culture, creed, sexuality, or identity is not remotely acceptable. Mistakes can happen but do your best to respect others.

~ 2. Keep it civil. Disagreements will happen both on lore and preferences. That's okay! Just don't let it make you forget that the person you are talking to is also a person.

~ 3. Use spoiler tags. This applies to any episodes that have dropped within 3 months prior of your posting. After that it's free game.

~ 4. Keep it Trek related. This one is kind of a gimme but keep as on topic as possible.

~ 5. Keep posts to a limit. We all love Star Trek stuff but 3-4 posts in an hour is plenty enough.

~ 6. Try to not repost. Mistakes happen, we get it! But try to not repost anything from within the past 1-2 months.

~ 7. No General AI Art. Posts of simple AI art do not 'inspire jamaharon' and fuck over our artist friends.

Fun will now commence.
