Even the outlets are shocked at how long the cat is waiting.

Feed the damn kitty already!

(lol, that is one gorgeous orangie.)

Wonderful picture of him

[–] bort@feddit.de 1 points 8 months ago

He looks how I image Rowl from the Cinder spires looks like

Why do you have 2 different outlets? Different amperage/voltage?

[–] Viking_Hippie@lemmy.world 6 points 8 months ago (2 children)

Actually, if you zoom in, you'll see that the third "hole" on the top one is a screw holding the cover in place lol

[–] LemmyIsFantastic@lemmy.world 1 points 8 months ago (1 children)

Mystery solved. I feel dumb now lol.

[–] stinkycheese@lemm.ee -1 points 8 months ago (3 children)

That can't be safe right? Surely the screw should be placed somewhere without contact of the plug.

[–] Schmuppes@lemmy.world 6 points 8 months ago

The screw is recessed, it will never make contact with the plug. Also, the plugs are made of plastic where the screw is located.

As long as it's grounded it's fine. I'd be more concerned about someone plugging in a device that needs grounding into a socket like that.

[–] slazer2au@lemmy.world 1 points 8 months ago

very few things need grounding. Plus I have no ground wire to the outlet so i would argue it is safer to not have the grounding socket there.

[–] onion@feddit.de 1 points 8 months ago

You won't like the german design then

[–] Schmuppes@lemmy.world 4 points 8 months ago (3 children)

I'm asking myself why there doesn't seem to be any ground pins.

[–] slazer2au@lemmy.world 1 points 8 months ago (1 children)

Because the house was built before ground wiring to all sockets was mandatory so I only have 2 wires in each outlet.

Absolute madlad.

[–] Viking_Hippie@lemmy.world 0 points 8 months ago (1 children)

Because OP has very unrealistic expectations in life.

[–] slazer2au@lemmy.world 1 points 8 months ago (1 children)

meh. the ground is there for when something goes wrong. seeing as nothing is plugged in and they have safety caps in the sockets nothing should go wrong for some time.

[–] Viking_Hippie@lemmy.world 2 points 8 months ago

I was making an apparently too subtle joke about not being grounded as a person, extrapolating from there 😁

I think this is a European-compatible socket with no ground, used in Russia.

[–] slazer2au@lemmy.world 2 points 8 months ago (1 children)

you are right but not about the russia part. In western europe.

[–] ChaoticNeutralCzech@feddit.de 1 points 8 months ago* (last edited 8 months ago)

I never said they were used exclusively in Russia. However, it is strange because I don't think they are allowed in the EU - a grounded plug can be inserted without a ground connection, and the recess is way too shallow. Such sockets may have been allowed by lenient regulations many decades ago but the design seems way too modern.
