I recently got myself an Acer Swift with a 7840U, and while the screen is an absolute beauty, and performance seems amazing, I just cannot get over the fan noise.
When on charge, CPU temps hover around 60c easily, and the fan is already working quite hard at that point. Doing anything more than light browsing temps ramp up to 80c easily.
It is hard to deny that the slim design of the Swift is a big part of the problem here, but I am hoping I could still work around this.
I tried using SpeedFan, Controlfan, ThrottleStop (this one actually said it was unsupported), and NoteBook FanControl but none have worked.
As far as I could see there were no options for it in the Bios either.
Does this mean that for the foreseeable future, no changes can be made? Or has anyone else ysed some other trick to adjust either the fans or the CPU?

Just in case someone lands on this post.. using Universal x86 Tuning Utility I managed to control the power limit easily.
By tuning it down a lot, to 7 watts (from a spike usage of 30 watt) the laptop runs silent under any office loaf I am putting it through, with no noticeable effect on performance. The fan runs softly all the time, but not noticeably loud, so it's a great fix for this laptop!
And a different profile for higher power consumption is of course easily set up as well, nice.
