Reminder that the Red Sea attacks have still resulted in zero casualties. In response, the US-UK has killed 22 fighters.

Disrupting trade is punishable by death.

Attacking civilian ships is generally considered a dick move.

[–] Alsephina@lemmy.ml 17 points 4 months ago (2 children)

It's a gigachad move and the only morally correct thing to do when they're supplying a genocide.

But they're not just attacking ships supplying aid to Israel. They are attacking whatever passes by them. If it was to support Gaza, why would they have attacked a clearly marked Chinese ship?

[–] Alsephina@lemmy.ml 12 points 4 months ago (1 children)

attacked a clearly marked Chinese ship

Pretty sure they stopped attacking Chinese and Russian ships since they stopped supplying "israel" and co. through the Red Sea after the Yemeni gov told them to. There were a few misfires after that but for the most part they're left alone.

Hell, a br*tish ship misqueraded as a Chinese ship a few days ago to avoid being attacked. Probably why Yemen is ending up hitting a few Chinese ships too.

Regardless, China has condemned the US and UK's bombing of Yemen. As anyone with a hint of morals should.

Curious how you logic justifies their attacks on western ships, but not the west's response to these attacks.

[–] Alsephina@lemmy.ml 4 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Yeah western countries and their ships should probably consider not supplying or supporting the genocide.

[–] Bonskreeskreeskree@lemmy.world -4 points 4 months ago (1 children)

And if you don't want to be retaliated against, don't attack ships.

[–] Alsephina@lemmy.ml 2 points 4 months ago

This idiot would've told Jews in the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising to not attack the nazis if they don't want to be retaliated against.

Curious how you logic justifies their attacks on Yemen, but not the Houthi's response to these attacks.

Genocide is fine, tho. 👀

[–] Nudding@lemmy.world 9 points 4 months ago

Why did they attack those ships?

[–] clay830@lemmy.world -4 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Red sea attacks... so just leave out the US soldiers killed.

[–] queermunist@lemmy.ml 12 points 4 months ago* (last edited 4 months ago)

Different group. Turns out, lots of people in that region hate the US!

Disrupting trade is punishable by death.

At this scale? Yes. Fucking up global trade at this level hurts people all over the planet. The downstream pain reaches into millions of households.

And if that hurt isn't enough for you, it's clearly terrorism. And your plan is to let it stand because there haven't been any deaths?

[–] Alsephina@lemmy.ml 8 points 4 months ago* (last edited 4 months ago)

Damn those ships and countries should probably consider not supplying a genocide then.

Fucking up global trade at this level hurts people all over the planet

That's from the capitalist class hoarding all the wealth. We have more than enough resources to meet everyone's needs otherwise. Know who to blame and direct your frustration at.

[–] queermunist@lemmy.ml 7 points 4 months ago

My plan is to force Israel to stop the genocide.

And they aren't shutting down all global trade. Just ships going to or from Israel. Sanctions, essentially.

[–] ShimmeringKoi@hexbear.net 23 points 4 months ago

Dying empire flails impotently in support of a genocide, more at 11

[–] Alsephina@lemmy.ml 16 points 4 months ago (1 children)

This is the fourth time they're bombing Yemen since the Yemeni government started blocking ships supplying "israel"

[–] TWeaK@lemm.ee 9 points 4 months ago (1 children)

4th time since January. The Houthis (not the Yemeni government) have been attacking ships in the Red Sea since October/November.

[–] Alsephina@lemmy.ml 19 points 4 months ago

4th time since January

Ah my bad.

Houthi/Ansarallah are the main Yemeni government though, with over 80% of the population under their governance with popular support. Regardless of whether foreign countries or those supporting the genocide recognize that or not.

After more than 30 years of dropping bombs on similar groups you would think the U.S.A would realize it doesn't work. The military has become a joke. Things like this just embolden bigger nations. Iran, Russia, North Korea, and soon China (don't believe they want armed aggression, at least not yet).

Let's tell Ukraine what they can and can't do with weapons provided. Meanwhile Israel get to do whatever the fuck it wants bombing civilians to kill a few potential targets. More will just take their place. If Israel wants more weapons and money they should go ask their Russians friends.
