Many may already know this offer from Sticker Mule, but you can get basic Unix swag really cheaply to stick on a laptop or water bottle.

I bought myself a couple and can confirm it's legit and good quality.

Jeez sending that Liberal moron shirt to a person ordering a shirt raising awareness to indigenous murders is really fucked up

[-] wim@lemmy.sdf.org 4 points 10 months ago

StickerMule claims it was an innocent mistake, but not sure how credible that is https://twitter.com/stickermule/status/1656058962247053312

[-] drwho@beehaw.org 4 points 10 months ago

I think that was done by somebody who knows the corporate culture, and further knows what can be gotten away with.

[-] li10@feddit.uk 14 points 10 months ago

Huh, wish I’d known that before I ordered.

Will avoid in future, as that’s genuinely quite fucked up…

[-] six_arm_spider_man@reddthat.com 25 points 10 months ago

For a buck, why not... I like the doofy looking bear. What is that the mascot for?

[-] Funkymatt@lemmy.world 25 points 10 months ago
[-] six_arm_spider_man@reddthat.com 2 points 10 months ago

Got it. Thanks! I wasn't even close.

[-] Andy@programming.dev 14 points 10 months ago

Since you ask (why not?), check the current top comment. I didn't know about it until today.

[-] six_arm_spider_man@reddthat.com 17 points 10 months ago

FFS, can't even buy stickers anymore with out researching if the company is a horror show.

One more place I'm not shopping at any more I guess.

[-] Jagger2097@lemmy.world 4 points 10 months ago

Ahh capitalism....

I believe you mean the go gopher!

[-] judgeholden@hexbear.net 1 points 10 months ago

the Go programming language, I think it’s a gopher?

Will they actually make money on it? 10 stickers AND free shipping for $1? Looks like some marketing campaign and my guess is it will actually cost them. Right?

[-] eric@lemmy.ca 15 points 10 months ago

Can't argue with a dollar. This will be my second time buying from them. Great quality.

[-] Andy@programming.dev 11 points 10 months ago

It is possible to argue with a dollar.

[-] scorpionix@feddit.de 12 points 10 months ago

Oh do I miss the days when Unixstickers was an independent company. Way better merch and offers. But oh well, can't argue with a Dollar...

[-] TCB13@lemmy.world 9 points 10 months ago

I remember when unixstickers was a store not a part of stickermule... at that time they also had linux tishirts and whatnot, all very good.

[-] RvTV95XBeo@sh.itjust.works 9 points 10 months ago

They had many more stickers as well as an ongoing request board where you could nominate FOSS projects to be added. And you could buy individual stickers... It really tanked when SM took over.

[-] LunarLoony@lemmy.sdf.org 3 points 10 months ago

The best hoodie I ever bought was from Unix Stickers. Since SM never brought them back, I managed to find the manufacturer (Mantis World, for reference).

[-] TCB13@lemmy.world 1 points 10 months ago

Thanks for the reference, they indeed look to have the same finish. Do they still ship the unix stickers designs?

[-] LunarLoony@lemmy.sdf.org 1 points 10 months ago

No, they just sell unbranded garments. You'd have to take it to a print shop to get a design on it.

[-] GravelPieceOfSword@lemmy.ca 9 points 10 months ago

I bought this set of 206 stickers from Amazon a few weeks ago for $10 (9.99, but that's really 10).

The stickers are very hard to peel off till you get the hang of it, but can vouch.

[-] agent_flounder@lemmy.one 5 points 10 months ago

Nice. I think that's the one I ordered a while ago

Also if anyone is interested in diy Linux distro stickers...

[-] nitefox@lemmy.world 3 points 10 months ago

Nice one, got it

[-] nik282000@lemmy.ca 1 points 10 months ago

I got a set recently but something weird happened in the mail and they took 18 months to arrive XD. It had been so long that I forgot I had even made the order.

[-] rzlatic@lemmy.ml 1 points 10 months ago

thanks, ordered!

[-] const_void@lemmy.ml 1 points 10 months ago

Does the money go back to the distros?

[-] Andy@programming.dev 21 points 10 months ago

Apparently it goes toward sending customers "Liberal Moron" shirts instead of their requested designs, and also illegally underpaying employees. So... I doubt it.

[-] smileyhead@discuss.tchncs.de 6 points 10 months ago

I think the price is more to prevent people from spamming orders than to actually make money. StickerMule is propably losing on this stickers to make their site more recognized.

[-] Andy@programming.dev 6 points 10 months ago* (last edited 10 months ago)

Would you consider editing the main post with the details from here? At least one person here has explicitly said

wish I’d known that before I ordered

And I'd guess many here would like to know that before deciding whether to support the company.

[-] beeng@discuss.tchncs.de 1 points 10 months ago

I just wish they all didn't have white outlines, makes them look a little cheap/store bought, instead of "collected" which is how I usually like to get my stickers. Oh well, for 1USD it ain't bad.

[-] Luci@lemmy.ca 7 points 10 months ago
[-] beeng@discuss.tchncs.de 8 points 10 months ago

Yes nice Fiskars. But they're not gonna make them look as nice as they would if they were designed without borders.

Probably is the reason why they have borders to start with, cheaper to laser cut with less precision.

[-] smileyhead@discuss.tchncs.de 3 points 10 months ago

They keep printing quality of their other products and it's great. The price is propably a gift to community and/or some soft of advertisment.

[-] Smoogy@kbin.social 1 points 10 months ago

Is anyone else seeing a face on a counter in the thumbnail?

[-] targetx@programming.dev 1 points 10 months ago

I believe that's a kbin specific bug mixing up image thumbnails or something. Works fine for me from Lemmy.

[-] scytale@lemm.ee 0 points 10 months ago

Cool! Thanks for sharing.

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Linux is a family of open source Unix-like operating systems based on the Linux kernel, an operating system kernel first released on September 17, 1991 by Linus Torvalds. Linux is typically packaged in a Linux distribution (or distro for short).

Distributions include the Linux kernel and supporting system software and libraries, many of which are provided by the GNU Project. Many Linux distributions use the word "Linux" in their name, but the Free Software Foundation uses the name GNU/Linux to emphasize the importance of GNU software, causing some controversy.
