Some dog has probably peed on that.

[–] MECHAGIC@lemmy.world 21 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Why would you remind me of this

[–] Mouselemming@sh.itjust.works 5 points 10 months ago

Probably doesn't matter that much to you, as a cockroach 🪳

[–] UraniumBlazer@lemm.ee 17 points 10 months ago

I peed on it. I am not a dog.

This is why I only touch my computer keyboard, which only I have peed on

Wrong. Grass is bad. Native ground cover is better. Less water and trimming,

i honestly don't know the difference and can't banter with u about it lol

i was talking about weed

[–] LinkOpensChest_wav@lemmy.blahaj.zone 8 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Weed is natural groundcover in some places, but it's probably not very potent when it grows like that

[–] skylestia@lemmy.blahaj.zone 6 points 10 months ago (2 children)

is it like natural ground cover is the foliage that naturally grows in a place and then grass is like stuff we plant in yards for aesthetics?

if it is potent when it grows like that i would love to move to a place where it grows naturally 👉😎👉

[–] LinkOpensChest_wav@lemmy.blahaj.zone 4 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Well, it's a bit of a mistake to say that grass isn't natural groundcover. I live on a prairie where much of the groundcover is composed of grasses, but the distinction between a lawn and a natural groundcover is that what we think of as "a lawn" or "the grass" are varieties that are sold commercially, that often require additional water and fertilizer. You'll find different types of these grasses sold in different parts of the world due to different climates.

if it is potent when it grows like that i would love to move to a place where it grows naturally

No, it's not potent when it grows like that lol. I used to work in the bean fields a long time ago, and it was literally considered a weed that we would chop or pull when we were working in the fields. I tried it once out of curiosity, and there was no effect at all. Actually, that could have been hemp now that I think about it, but my understanding is that growing weed takes a lot of specialized care to get it to provide the effect that it does. I have a friend who grows, and he's got like an entire lab set up in his house and has to trim, fertilize, etc. to produce the type of nice weed we all enjoy.

[–] skylestia@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 10 months ago (1 children)

ohh i think i get it - natural ground cover is better

your friend sounds awesome lol, it sucks it's not potent growing wild, i actually only tried weed for the first time a few months ago, my first thought was growing it myself (cuz weed is expensive) but the most i've looked into was to see that growing it has a lot of dumb legal regulations, and it would probably not be easy to grow it where i currently live without being caught eventually (would totally do it if my apartment were bigger tho)

[–] LinkOpensChest_wav@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Yeah growing it is actually pretty expensive because you typically can't just place it in a window or something, so you need grow lights, a way to keep it hydrated, and a huge time investment to care for it. My husband looked into it, and in my state you need to basically grow it in a separately locked room.

[–] skylestia@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 10 months ago (1 children)

luckily the time investment isn't really an issue for me atm, i'm agoraphobic and a stay-at-home partner, i have a lot of time on my hands and i've always wanted a garden! lol

do you know if it's still expensive after the initial purchases of the lights and stuff? cuz other than space issues atm that would be my biggest limitation. since i'm agoraphobic i don't really get out much and my personal income is usually really limited, and my bf works regularly but he's not exactly wealthy lol. and same, in my state it can't be in view of public and you can't grow it if you live within 25 miles of a dispensary (which we do). i wouldn't really care about the regulations if i had space/money for it, though. my rule of thumb with stuff like this is that it's only illegal if i get caught! lol (for legal reasons this is a joke)

[–] LinkOpensChest_wav@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 10 months ago (1 children)

My understanding from my friend is that most of the expenses after the initial setup are from the increased electric bill, but I think it's not as bad as it used to be since LED grow lights have become more common.

We want to move asap (for unrelated reasons), will keep it mind, thanks! :)

im totally gonna grow my own weed one day

[–] LinkOpensChest_wav@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Best wishes to you! I hope it goes well (both the weed and the move)

[–] skylestia@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 10 months ago

Wish you the best too! 🩷

Look into "space buckets". There are guides in the old place and likely elsewhere on the web.

Space efficient homegrowing :)

[–] skylestia@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 10 months ago (1 children)

thanks, i had never heard of that but found a buncha info really quickly by just searching for space buckets!

including guides specifically for growing weed in them lol

thanks!

[–] Anarki_@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 10 months ago

Follow the way of the grassy planes indigenous americans and torch that ground. Smoke a whole field.

[–] skylestia@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 10 months ago

let's hotbox the whole earth lol

[–] TragicNotCute@lemmy.world 11 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Counterpoint: there are native grasses.

[–] Lemongrab@lemmy.one 4 points 10 months ago

Just not the ones we use for lawns in the USA.
