What do these cats do outside in nature when they can't find any soap?
Pretty sure they don't exist in nature.
IIRC the founding animal was a street cat that was adopted. So people were only indirectly responsible.
Eta: Partially true. But there was a whole lot of breeding fuckery to stabilize the mutation.
Wow, that thing is a rabbit hole! Thanks for sharing
And with it came the oil thing?
I'd think all cats naturally do the oil thing to protect their fur
Yup. For a lot of cats the layers are oil, undercoat, main coat. The undercoat is a very short, dense and wiry coat of fur to stop things getting from the main coat to the skin.
The undercoat, as you can imagine, also absorbs a lot of the oil. Most people who are allergic to cats are actually allergic to the oil.
Also, in very specific breeds, there can be 3 layers of fur (like Siberian, for example).
Yeah, wikipedia tells me its a breed of a breed of breeds
I mean, if you compare wildcat > sphynx cat with elves > orks..
Orks are a type of sapient, psychic fungus, though.
Humans strike again!
Bad humans! 💦🔫
They're not natural. These are the result of human breeding. They've never had to exist in nature.
Leave it to people to take nature's apex predator and turn it into a high maintenance fashion statement.
Now I’m imagining The Neverending Story with two of these guys guarding the gate instead of the normal sphinxes.
Thanks.
Well, he's certainly mastered the glare that could skeletonize a fully-armored knight from a hundred paces.
Cat ears for cats?
Cat ears for cat ears so you don’t see cat tears.
Does this breed tend to be calmer/more interested in water? or do you have to bath train them as kittens? I could not imagine giving weekly baths or covering ears/head on the average cat being a pleasant experience.
Since they have to be bathed from a young age, they probably don’t develop an aversion. I know other people who have had to get their adult cats accustomed to baths (the cats lack the ability to clean themselves), and after a while the cats just resign themselves to it lol.
